Gijang outlet restaurant for a weekday couple lunch date: Bueokgan
In short
Bueokgan Restaurant is a Western restaurant at the very back of the first floor of Shinsegae Simon Busan Premium Outlets in Gijang, Busan. On a weekday lunch date, the couple ordered abalone cream risotto, arugula prosciutto pizza and grapefruit ade, and the ade came with real grapefruit in it, while the risotto was thick with abalone innards and the pizza dough was pleasantly chewy. Bueokgan is an easy pick if you want a proper meal in the middle of a shopping trip.

My other half used a day off for some personal errands and skipped work, so we had a weekday lunch date~ Since it's been a while since we had time together while the kid was at school, we went to a Gijang-style Western restaurant for risotto and pizza. This is my review of Bueokgan, a Gijang lunch favorite inside Busan Shinsegae Premium Outlets that a lot of people go to.

Where is Bueokgan inside Shinsegae Busan Premium Outlets?

Bueokgan, the Gijang restaurant favorite inside Busan Shinsegae Outlets, is easy to find — it's right at the very back of the 1st floor.

Even the waiting area is spacious and elegant, haha. Just so you know, since it's such a popular Gijang-style Western restaurant in the Busan Shinsegae Premium Outlets dining area, the wait can get long on weekends.

The overall interior is upscale and elegant but toned down, and the lighting isn't overdone, giving it a understated, refined look rather than flashy. The tables themselves are large and well-spaced, so you can eat comfortably without feeling crowded.
What is on the menu at Bueokgan in the outlet dining hall?

From set menus to à la carte dishes. Salads, pasta, risotto, pizza, and drinks including ade, beer, and coffee — a whole range of European-style dishes are ready to order. My other half and I ordered the abalone cream risotto and the arugula prosciutto pizza. And of course, grapefruit ade was a must!!
Abalone cream risotto and fresh grapefruit ade at Bueokgan
This is my all-time favorite grapefruit ade. Bitter, sharp, sweet, refreshing, and cold all at once — I love it so much!! ^^ It's not the kind of grapefruit ade made with just grapefruit syrup and sparkling water — there's real grapefruit right in there. Lime adds even more freshness on top. The abalone cream risotto came out first.

Even just looking at it, you could tell how rich and thick it was.

It's packed with the savory aroma of abalone innards. The mellow, savory scent of abalone is just excellent.
Because the abalone-innard cream is so thick and rich, the balance between the soft cream sauce, the firm rice grains, and the texture of the abalone is spot on. Savory, chewy-firm, and springy, yet soft at the same time. Not too salty, not too bland — the seasoning is just right.

The rice grains aren't mushy at all, which pairs perfectly with the chewy texture of the abalone. If it had been soft or overcooked it would have been a letdown, but this is an excellent risotto that nails both texture and flavor.
There was plenty of abalone, and the innard cream was so savory that it was absolutely delicious. Honestly, when it first arrived the portion looked small, but as I kept eating I realized there was actually a lot of it. Then the arugula prosciutto pizza arrived.

Arugula prosciutto pizza: the dough is the highlight
The chewy dough and the arugula are such a fantastic combination.
I love arugula in any form, wild or regular, so whenever I order pizza and there's an arugula option, I always go for it without question!! On top of that, there's chewy, salty prosciutto too.
At Bueokgan, the Gijang-style Western restaurant favorite in the Busan Shinsegae Premium Outlets dining area, the pizza dough itself is really excellent. The chewiness and savoriness are top-notch. It's a pizza where the bread itself is delicious. ^^

On top of that it's piled high with fresh arugula, so how could it not be delicious. The aroma of the arugula is amazing haha. Ah... I'm the type who wants to mix arugula into rice every single day... hahaha.
The chewy, savory pizza dough is delicious on its own, but the texture of the arugula and prosciutto together works really well. The cheese isn't overdone either, so it's not tough or too salty — just right.

The dough isn't thick, but it's not paper-thin like a tortilla either — it's just the right thickness, so you can really taste both the toppings and the dough itself. Because the dough itself is delicious, it makes for an excellent pizza.

Is Bueokgan worth a weekday lunch date? One-line verdict
Shopping at Busan Shinsegae Premium Outlets and then having a great meal at a Gijang-style Western restaurant made for a really happy weekday date. Every dish we ordered was delicious, so we were very satisfied. If you're looking for a good restaurant in the dining area of Busan Shinsegae Outlets, I recommend Bueokgan. ^^
