Gijang, Busan snow crab restaurant: bakdal pair, 10% Naver discount
In short
Gijang Myeongpum Daegae is a snow crab restaurant at the crab street crossroads in Gijang Market, Busan. On a 2-night, 3-day Busan trip, a Naver reservation with a pre-order (10% off) covered two top-grade bakdal snow crabs of 1kg each at that day's market price of 162,000 won, plus crab-shell fried rice for 5,000 won. I came to Busan for the first time in a while and spent 2 nights, 3 days staying in the quieter Gijang area. While looking for snow crab restaurants in Gijang, Busan, I found Gijang Myeongpum Daegae, which stood out for selling crab at honest prices!

I reserved through Naver before visiting. (Pre-ordering through the reservation gets you 10% off!)

Gijang Myeongpum Daegae sits right at the crossroads of Gijang Market's crab street. It's also about 426m on foot from Exit 1 of Gijang Station, so it's easy to get to by subway too!

The parking lot for Myeongpum Daegae is in the alley behind the building on the left. If you tell them you parked after eating, they'll give you a parking payment coin.

True to its claim of "honest pricing," Gijang Myeongpum Daegae's strong point is being able to enjoy fresh seafood cleanly. Reviews have been steadily piling up too, so first-timers shouldn't feel too intimidated.

Three ways to avoid scale tricks when buying snow crab
Here's what Gijang Myeongpum Daegae recommends checking to avoid scale tricks when buying snow crab. Don't just look at the price tag — check these 3 things too!
- ▫️Check whether only the crab is placed on the scale (i.e. the basket weight is excluded)
- ▫️Check that the price tag clearly states the grade (jeolji, bakdal, etc.)
- ▫️Confirm the weighing happens right in front of you

At Gijang Myeongpum Daegae, they catch the crab in front of you and show you the weight in grams with the basket weight excluded — no scale tricks here!

Inside Gijang Myeongpum Daegae and the self-serve bar
The interior is clean and spacious, with long rows of seating that looked great for family gatherings or group meals!

The basic side dishes come from a self-serve bar. Personally I thought everything tasted great because it was warm overall! Even the basic plates come out warm right after being sanitized, which showed they really care about hygiene ✨
Two top-grade bakdal snow crabs, 1kg each, for 162,000 won
And here's what we ordered — premium bakdal snow crab 1kg x 2, which came to ₩162,000 for the pair at that day's market price!

The bakdal crab meat was quite substantial! Sometimes you pick a crab based on size alone and end up cracking it open to find not much meat inside, but the yield here was solid — the meat was packed tight!

Each crab came already picked apart, which made it so easy to eat haha

The meat inside was so packed it doesn't even come across fully in photos!! 🦀🦀
Can you see the warm steam rising in the gif!? Crab meat often ends up cold by the time you get through the meal, but Gijang Myeongpum Daegae serves it in its own steamer, so you can eat it warm from start to finish — that made me really happy 👍🏻

Finishing with crab-shell fried rice for 5,000 won
And of course, you can't skip the K-dessert of crab after crab — crab-shell fried rice 🦀 ₩5,000 each

When you order the crab-shell fried rice, you don't just get the fried rice — a big pot of doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) comes along with it, so you can finish the meal feeling completely full!
I used to worry about getting ripped off when going out for snow crab, but Gijang Myeongpum Daegae weighs the crab honestly right in front of you, and serves it hot in a steamer from start to finish — a genuinely satisfying place. If you're looking for a snow crab restaurant on Gijang Market's crab street in Busan, I think this one is worth checking out :)
