Goyang Chinese restaurant with dip-style tangsuyuk: Jjamppong Jijeon
In short
Jjamppong Jijeon Seooreung Branch is a large two-floor Chinese restaurant on Seooreung-ro in Deogyang-gu, Goyang, Gyeonggi. Visiting with children, the writer ordered jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup), jjajangmyeon (black bean noodles) and tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork) served with the sauce on the side for dipping, plus a complimentary plate of jjamppong-flavor fried mandu (dumplings). With bean sprouts from the self-serve bar to add to the jjamppong and parking on site, Jjamppong Jijeon Seooreung Branch was an easy choice for a family meal.

On days when I'm craving a spicy soup, my mind naturally drifts to Chinese food. What I love about Chinese restaurants is that everyone can pick their own favorite — adults go for jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup) or fried rice, kids go for jjajangmyeon (black bean noodles) or tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork) — which makes it such a great option for family dinners. This time I stopped by Jjamppong Jijeon Seooreung Branch near Seooreung. It's famous for its jjamppong, but the jjajangmyeon and tangsuyuk were great too, so let me tell you about our hearty family meal there. 😊

Where is Jjamppong Jijeon Seooreung Branch, and is there parking?
Jjamppong Jijeon Seooreung Branch occupies the 1st and 2nd floors of a building at 424 Seooreung-ro, Deogyang-gu, Goyang-si, Gyeonggi-do. It's open daily from 07:00 to 22:00, with last order at 21:30. Parking is available both in front of the building and underground, which was really convenient since we drove.
There are quite a few family-friendly restaurants around Seooreung, and Jjamppong Jijeon Seooreung Branch fits right in — the space is quite large, so it looked good for both family outings and group visits.

What the two floors of Jjamppong Jijeon look like inside
Since the restaurant uses both the 1st and 2nd floors, it felt even more spacious than I expected once we stepped inside. The tables were spread out generously and everything was kept clean and tidy, which made a great first impression.
Chinese restaurants can sometimes feel a bit greasy underfoot or on the tables, but this place was relatively spotless. The tables were spaced well apart, which made it comfortable to visit with kids. And honestly, that's the beauty of a Chinese restaurant family meal — no arguing over the menu, since the kids can have jjajangmyeon while the adults enjoy spicy jjamppong. 😊

What is at the self-serve bar?
One thing I really liked about Jjamppong Jijeon Seooreung Branch was the self-serve bar. It had side dishes that go well with jjamppong, like bean sprouts, onions, and kimchi, plus rice as well.
There was also a good variety of drinks — iced tea, plum tea, omija tea, and Americano — that we could help ourselves to freely during the meal. Sipping something cold after a spicy bite of jjamppong hit the spot. If you like bean sprouts, definitely try adding them to your jjamppong! I tried it this time and the crunchy texture went surprisingly well with it.
They even brought out the side dishes along with water in a bottle!!

That day we ordered jjamppong, jjajangmyeon, and tangsuyuk.

Tangsuyuk with the sauce served on the side for dipping
The first thing we tried was tangsuyuk! Here, the sauce comes on the side, so it doesn't get soggy from the start and stays crispy all the way through — perfect if you're a fan of dipping-style tangsuyuk. It's hard to skip tangsuyuk on a Chinese food outing. 😊
The batter wasn't too thick, so the outside was crispy while the meat inside was moist and chewy. The tangsuyuk itself wasn't too greasy, which made it easy to keep picking at between bites of jjajangmyeon and jjamppong.
The sweet potato fritters that came alongside were also a treat — the sweetness made them feel almost like maltang (candied sweet potato), and I enjoyed those too. If you're visiting with kids, the jjajangmyeon + tangsuyuk combo is hard to go wrong with.

The tangsuyuk was also great for sharing with the kids — seeing them eat it happily made me really happy too :-) 🩵

How was the seafood jjamppong broth and noodles?
Then the jjamppong we'd been waiting for arrived. Taking a spoonful of the broth, I could really taste the spiciness along with the fresh flavor of seafood. It looked incredibly appetizing from the start too.
It wasn't just spicy for the sake of being spicy — the broth was rich and hearty with the savory depth of seafood layered in. There was plenty of mussels and squid in it too, which made eating alongside the noodles even more fun. The noodles felt a bit chewier than typical Chinese noodles, soaking up the broth nicely without going mushy. And then there was that bean sprout from the self-serve bar I mentioned earlier!

Adding bean sprouts to the jjamppong gave it a nice crunchy texture that went really well together. Once you've eaten most of the noodles, I'd also recommend mixing rice into the leftover broth — the rich jjamppong soup soaking into the rice made for a satisfying finish.

Jjajangmyeon the kids finished off
If jjamppong was the dish for the adults, jjajangmyeon was definitely the one for the kids. 😊 The jjajangmyeon here wasn't too salty or strong-tasting, with just the right amount of sweetness, so it worked well for kids too.
The glossy black bean sauce looked delicious from the start. There was plenty of onion and meat mixed in, and the sauce coated the noodles evenly, so each bite had that signature sweet, savory jjajang flavor. The noodles were also nice and chewy, pairing well with the sauce.
We ordered a generous portion to share with the kids, and sure enough, they devoured the jjajangmyeon. Pair it with crispy tangsuyuk and you've got the classic Chinese food combo! I also found that alternating between spicy jjamppong and a bite of jjajangmyeon helped balance out the heat nicely.

The complimentary jjamppong-flavor fried mandu
Fried mandu (dumplings) on the house!! It was so surprising that the filling was jjamppong-flavored — it had a spicy kick that actually worked well as a palate cleanser :-) The mandu were crispy and delicious 💛

Is Jjamppong Jijeon a good family restaurant near Seooreung?
It was hard to pick just one favorite among the three dishes we tried at Jjamppong Jijeon Seooreung Branch this time — each had its own appeal.
- Jjamppong: rich, spicy broth with chewy noodles
- Jjajangmyeon: sweet and savory, great for kids
- Tangsuyuk: the perfect balance of crispy batter and juicy meat
Ordering all three together meant we got to enjoy everything from spicy to sweet and crispy in one meal — a really great combination. I especially liked that the restaurant was spacious and clean, and that there were so many kid-friendly options.
With parking available and a well-stocked self-serve bar, it was a comfortable spot for a family meal. If you're near Seooreung and craving spicy jjamppong, or looking for a Chinese restaurant to visit with kids, Jjamppong Jijeon Seooreung Branch is well worth a try. Next time, I'd like to try some other menu items besides the jjamppong, jjajangmyeon, and tangsuyuk we had this time. 😊
