Goyang Chinese restaurant with a QR roulette prize: Jjamppong Jijeon

When I want to eat out with family and have a guaranteed-satisfying Chinese meal, Jjamppong Jijeon Seooreung Branch is the place that naturally comes to mind. The taste, hygiene and service are all consistently good, so I've already gone back several times — I really love this spot.

It's located right on the restaurant street in front of Seooreung, so it's easy to find. Best of all, there's a spacious private lot with parking for 30+ cars, so you don't have to worry about parking even on weekends or during peak times. It opens at 7am, which is great news if you need an early breakfast.

This is the exterior of Jjamppong Jijeon. It's a standalone two-story building with a generous parking lot out front.

There's also waiting seating set up at the entrance.

The interior has a sleek, modern white-toned design, with an open kitchen that gives you confidence in the cleanliness. The tables are spaced generously and there's a large hall upstairs, so this is a place I'd recommend for family meals as well as group gatherings or work dinners.

Self-serve bar: unlimited rice refills and a dessert corner

The self-serve bar near the entrance is thoughtfully stocked with side dishes like pickled radish, onion, jjajangmian pickles, kkakdugi, peppers and bean sprouts, plus scissors, tongs, baby spoons and forks, hair ties, and disposable aprons. The fact that rice refills are unlimited is a big plus, haha.

After the meal, you can enjoy dessert at the corner stocked with coffee, hot chocolate, iced tea, omija tea and plum tea.

What's on the menu at Jjamppong Jijeon Seooreung Branch?

The core principle here is same-day cooking, using domestic red pepper powder and slow, cold-aged noodles. As a jjamppong specialty restaurant, there's a wide range of choices — from the signature jijon jjamppong to sundubu, sujebi (hand-pulled dough soup) and rice noodle versions depending on your taste.

There's also jijon jjajangmyeon, crab fried rice, shrimp fried rice, sweet rice tangsuyuk, Sichuan tangsuyuk and fried mandu.

What we ordered: large jijon jjajangmyeon, shrimp fried rice and sweet-rice tangsuyuk

We ordered jijon jjajangmyeon large (₩12,000), shrimp fried rice (₩11,000) and sweet rice tangsuyuk medium (₩24,000). And they gave us jjamppong fried mandu on the house.

These are the basic side dishes plus a few extras we grabbed from the self-serve bar.

Jijon jjajangmyeon, large portion (12,000 won)

The charm here is the nostalgic old-school jjajang sauce style — nutty and sweet.

The cold-aged noodles were cooked just right too, haha.

Shrimp fried rice (11,000 won)

The fried rice comes out perfectly fluffy and separated — it's one of my favorite dishes here. The accompanying jjamppong broth can also be swapped for egg soup!

It's tasty on its own, and also great mixed with the jjajang sauce that comes alongside, haha.

There's plenty of shrimp in there too, haha.

Sweet-rice tangsuyuk, medium (24,000 won)

The chewy, soft sweet-rice batter is crispy outside and moist inside — the real deal. Eating it with onion cuts the richness nicely, and there's crispy fried sweet potato mixed in too, which is a nice little treat.

The jjamppong fried mandu came free of charge, and the batter was fried super crispy — that's the appeal.

Inside is a spicy jjamppong filling — a dish you can't find anywhere else. Spicy and quite a special treat, haha.

We finished off with plum tea and iced tea from the self-serve bar, haha — a refreshing way to wrap up the meal.
