A recommended spot in Geobukseom, Siheung: Crab Yasijang! A hearty seafood spread enjoyed with an ocean view

I went out to Geobukseom to catch some sea breeze and ended up having a meal at Crab Yasijang, a place right on the water where you can enjoy seafood dishes.

Being a restaurant located right on Geobukseom, it sits directly facing the sea, so the atmosphere was really beautiful, and there was a wide variety of seafood dishes to enjoy too.
Where is Crab Yasijang? Right on the Geobukseom waterfront

Crab Yasijang sits right in front of the Geobukseom shoreline, so the moment I stepped inside, the ocean view filled my eyes.

The terrace seats especially let you take in the sea up close, which made for a great atmosphere.
What is the inside of Crab Yasijang like?

The inside of Crab Yasijang is spacious too, and the doors can be opened wide, so it felt naturally connected to the scenery outside. If you've come all the way to Geobukseom where the sea is close by, seafood is a must — and eating a seafood spread while looking out at the water really made it feel like a proper trip.
What comes with the Crab Yasijang seafood set

What I ordered that day was the ilpumyori set, which lets you enjoy several dishes all at once.

Honey butter crab rice cake, along with salad, mulhoe, sashimi, clam soup and more, filled the table — it looked hearty just to look at.

It was nice to be able to taste a little bit of many different seafood dishes rather than just one menu item.
Taste review, dish by dish
Mulhoe: cold, fresh raw fish soup

I started with the mulhoe (cold raw fish soup), and it was delicious — the cool broth came with a generous amount of fresh raw fish.

Eating cool mulhoe while looking at the sea on a hot day was especially fitting. The generous amount of raw fish gave it a nice texture too, and it was a dish that really woke up my appetite.
Best side dish at a sashimi restaurant: grilled corn
And the grilled corn that came as a side dish! This is the kind of menu item that's oddly welcome whenever it shows up at a raw fish restaurant, and it was just as nutty and delicious as expected. The sweet, nutty corn was grilled warm, and before I knew it, I kept reaching for another piece. Personally, I feel like grilled corn is a must among sashimi-restaurant side dishes, haha.
Sashimi that tasted properly fresh
The sashimi came out as an assortment of several kinds, including salmon and flounder. Overall the freshness of the fish was really good, and I enjoyed it with its firm, chewy texture.

Since it's a seafood specialty restaurant, freshness of the sashimi really matters — and it was clean with no fishy taste, so I could eat it without any hesitation.
Honey butter crab grilled with rice cake

The most unique dish of the day was the honey butter crab rice cake. Shrimp, blue crab and rice cake all come together, and eating the seafood and rice cake with the honey butter sauce turned out to be a better combination than I expected.

The nutty, savory flavor was front and center, which I liked, and best of all there was almost no fishy taste that seafood can sometimes have. The sweet, nutty flavor unique to honey butter blended well with the seafood, giving it more of a fusion-dish feel compared to seafood dishes I usually eat. Getting to eat shrimp and rice cake along with the crab made it filling, and there was fun in picking and choosing what to eat.
A salad you don't usually see with seafood
The salad also had a slightly different feel from a typical salad. Raw fish and cabbage were mixed together softly, and rather than a familiar salad taste, it had a distinctive flavor that went well with the seafood dishes.

Eating it alongside the sashimi kept things from feeling too heavy and gave a light, palate-cleansing feel, so it was nice to eat in between other dishes.
Finishing the meal with clear clam soup
The last thing I ate was the clam soup, notable for its clear broth. The broth wasn't spicy or sharp but had a cool, clean flavor, making it a perfect way to finish off a seafood meal.

They said you can add kalguksu (knife-cut noodles) into it, but since I was already full from eating so many dishes that day, I didn't add the noodles and just enjoyed the broth and the clams. If I visit again, I'd like to leave a little more room and try it properly with the kalguksu noodles, haha.
An ocean-view seafood meal at Geobukseom in Siheung

That day I got to taste a real variety of seafood dishes all at once — mulhoe, sashimi, honey butter crab rice cake with crab and shrimp, salad, and clam soup — and it was satisfying. Above all, eating seafood while looking out at Geobukseom's wide-open sea view seemed to make the food taste even better.

True to its name, Crab Yasijang's main specialty is snow crab dishes, and I saw plenty of people who had ordered snow crab to eat.

If you're planning to visit Geobukseom, I think it'd be a good idea to have a meal at Crab Yasijang, where you can take in the sea view and enjoy a hearty seafood spread.

Especially on a nice day, eating on the terrace seats while looking out at the sea seems like the way to properly enjoy a meal at Geobukseom!
