A family dinner at Ssosam 208 Siheung Baegot Branch, with the grilling left to the staff
Our kids love meat, so we're a Korean BBQ family that eats out often..‼️ The problem is... every time we go, my husband and I end up soooo busy 🤣ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ One of us grills, the other cuts the meat for the kids, then we switch and eat some more ㅋㅋㅋ We came for delicious meat but mom and dad end up on shift work >.< Hang in there, all you parents out there ❣️❣️❣️
So this time I thought, let's at least hand off the grilling to someone else! We went to Ssosam 208 Siheung Baegot Branch, a Korean BBQ restaurant in Baegot where staff grill the meat for you at the table. Long story short — not having to scramble over the grill made everything so much easier, and the taste was totally our thing ❤️ We ate really well and had a great time.

A Baegot Korean BBQ restaurant close to Siheung Premium Outlets

We finally arrived at Ssosam 208 Siheung Baegot Branch ❤️ It's close to Siheung Premium Outlets too, so it's a great spot to shop and then eat. We came for a family dinner and it was easy to find thanks to the good access. There's a basement parking lot in the building, and if you register your car number you get up to 2.5 hours free parking, so it was convenient to drive there too.
Walking inside, the place was clean and roomier than I expected. When eating out with kids, tight table spacing can be a little uncomfortable, but here the gap between tables was nice and generous. We picked a window seat for comfort with the kids 💕 It seemed great for a family dinner and also fine for a bigger group.

Ordering is done via tablet ‼️ The menu photos were clear, so we could take our time browsing and choosing.
What does the 208 in Ssosam 208 mean? 208-hour aged Korean pork

Looking at the menu, the number '208' kept catching my eye. At first I thought, "208 seconds?" or something like that... turns out it stands for 208 hours of aging. A name with real confidence behind it 👏

We went with the Garlic Pork Basic Set. Pork belly and pork neck in one order — perfect for our first visit! We decided to compare which cut was better with my husband haha. And since it's Ssosam (bull-shot, wordplay on soju)... we added soju too! ㅋㅋㅋ🤣
Side dishes, sauces and the complimentary rice noodle soup at Ssosam 208

Right after ordering, the side dishes and sauces to go with the meat were all set out.

Lettuce wraps, chili peppers and garlic were the basics, plus Maldon salt, garlic wasabi sauce, salted shrimp (myeoljeot), cumin salt, and wasabi!
Seasoned bean sprouts and kimchi came out too — and of course, those go straight on the grill 🫶 Cooked golden and crispy in the fat, how could that not be delicious ❤️

And then, while waiting for the meat, out of nowhere — rice noodle soup! Turns out it's complimentary. ❤️🙊❤️ Slurping up warm noodle broth while waiting for the meat to grill — filling that waiting time with rice noodles is just the best! 🫶
The Garlic Pork Basic Set: charcoal pre-grilled, then finished tableside by staff

After a short wait, the pre-grilled Garlic Pork Basic Set arrived.

It comes as pork belly and pork neck together, and since the meat was already partly cooked, the surface was appetizingly golden brown from the start ❤️

Onions and asparagus came along with it too 👍

This was the day I finally escaped shift work! 🩷💙💚💜❤️ With staff grilling the meat from start to finish, there was no need to watch the grill, flip anything, or worry about whether it was cooked through.
They drizzled a good swirl of oil over the kimchi and bean sprouts and grilled them right up ❣️

After the charcoal pre-grilling, they finished it perfectly at the table 👍
How did the garlic-scented pork belly and pork neck taste?

True to its name, the Garlic Pork Basic Set had a subtle garlic aroma running through the meat. The garlic wasn't overpowering — it just lifted the savory flavor of the pork a notch without masking the meat's own taste, which I really liked.
The staff grilled it to the exact right timing — the outside was golden and slightly crisp, while the inside stayed juicy, so every bite got more savory the more you chewed. 👏👏👏

The pork belly especially didn't just taste greasy — grilling the surface crisp brought out more of the savory flavor! When even the first bite is delicious without sauce, you know the rest is going to be good too haha ❤️

We piled garlic and wasabi onto wild chive leaves (myeongi-namul) and enjoyed it that way too.

The onions and asparagus grilled alongside were a treat too! Eating just meat can feel a little lacking, but with vegetables added in, the meal felt so much more complete. 🫶 The asparagus was so good too!!!
And then the pork neck! Compared to the pork belly, it had less of the fatty richness and more of the meat's own clean flavor and firmer texture. The outside was grilled golden but the inside wasn't overcooked, so biting in released juicy moisture. Switching back and forth between pork belly and pork neck, each had its own charm — I was glad we ordered the set ❤️
Adding one more serving of pork belly, with minari on the grill

In the end, I couldn't forget the savory flavor of the pork belly and ordered an extra serving ‼️ㅋㅋㅋ We also ordered minari (water dropwort) to go with it, and that combination was spot on. Grilling minari in the fat rendered from the pork belly softens the raw minari's sharp aroma a bit and adds more savory depth.
Piling plenty of fragrant minari onto the crispy grilled pork belly, the savory flavor gave way to minari's aroma rising up after — perfect balance 💕 It disappeared fast enough to make the extra order feel almost pointless ‼️‼️ㅋㅋ For once, neither my husband nor I were busy grilling — we got to eat comfortably while everything was hot, a proper family dinner 🫶
Would we return to Ssosam 208 for another family dinner? Final verdict
Eating here in person, Ssosam 208 Siheung Baegot Branch — a good spot near Siheung Premium Outlets — delivered both taste and comfort. The pork belly's crispy, savory grilling was great, and the pork neck's clean yet juicy texture was appealing too.
Most of all, with staff grilling the meat directly, we could eat it right when it hit peak doneness, and we didn't have to worry about the grill at all while looking after the kids. My husband and I, who are usually so busy at Korean BBQ restaurants with the kids, actually got to eat properly this time!!! ㅋㅋ
Delicious meat and a rare, relaxed outing for the whole family ❤️ Next time we want to put the tongs down and enjoy warm meat comfortably, I think our family will be back.
