Paju bingsu café, dawn-market mango snow bingsu: Fruit Forest

In short

Fruit Forest Paju Direct Store is a fresh-fruit dessert café in the Simhaksan food alley on Dolgoji-gil in Paju, Gyeonggi. The fresh mango snow bingsu is made with fruit picked at the first wholesale-market auction each dawn, ripened in-house and cut to order, and at Fruit Forest the flesh stayed firm rather than mushy with a sweetness that never felt artificial to the last bite. With seating for up to 100 people across floors 1 to 3 and a dog-friendly terrace, Fruit Forest is an easy dessert stop on a Paju drive.

The weather's been so nice lately that I went on a drive out to the Simhaksan area in Paju for something delicious. There are so many great restaurants in the Simhaksan food alley that I end up there often, and this time I stopped by 'Fruit Forest Paju Direct Store,' a fresh-fruit dessert café that fruit lovers apparently can't just walk past.

I'll give you the honest rundown of the vibe, my review of the signature fresh-fruit bingsu, and some tips for using the space — so if you're looking for a Paju drive-course dessert stop, read on!

What kind of café is Fruit Forest Paju Direct Store?

Fruit Forest Paju Direct Store is a fresh-fruit dessert café in the Simhaksan food alley in Paju. As soon as you enter the alley, you'll spot the pretty Fruit Forest building set against gorgeous scenery in every season.

The biggest draw here is that they use only 'top-grade fruit hand-selected at the first auction of the wholesale market every dawn'! The fruit that comes in goes through a ripening process in-store to reach peak sweetness, and it's cut only once a customer orders. I peeked into the showcase and the fruit really was fresh and impressively large.

Group tables and a dog-friendly terrace

The Fruit Forest Paju Direct Store spreads across three floors, so the space feels really open and comfortable. Including the terrace, it can seat up to 100 people at once, so it looked more than capable of handling family gatherings or group meetups.

Under sanitation law, dogs aren't allowed indoors, but they are welcome on the terrace seats — good to know if you're driving out with your dog!

How was the fresh mango snow bingsu?

We ordered the fresh mango snow bingsu, the one we'd been most curious about. The second it arrived, my jaw dropped at the sheer visual — most bingsu shops use frozen mango or fruit with slightly disappointing sweetness, but Fruit Forest piled on properly ripened fresh mango so densely it looked like it might overflow the bowl.

Because the mango is sliced right when you order, the flesh had zero mushiness — plump and firm, yet it melted the moment it hit my mouth. Scooping up a big spoonful with the snow ice, the juice burst out and it was seriously sweet. It wasn't an artificial sweetness but the fruit's own deep, clean sugar, so I never got tired of it till the last bite. I understood immediately why everyone raves about it as 'Paju's best mango bingsu spot' after just one bite!
