Weekends are our eating-out days - my husband and I are both big eaters, so we really love all-you-can-eat BBQ places. This visit to Gankeun Galbi Seongseo Branch had a pretty interior, a great playroom, and above all, the meat quality was really good even with unlimited refills, so we ate til we were stuffed and our baby bounced around happily in the playroom. Very satisfying.

I was especially surprised at how tender, savory, and smell-free the beef short rib was. The beef short rib and pork ribs were particularly delicious at this place - if you're a big eater, you really need to go!!!

Parking in Seongseo: the piloti lot keeps you dry in the rain

Parking is essential in Seongseo, and Gankeun Galbi Seongseo Branch has a piloti (ground-floor covered) parking lot, so rain is no problem! The lot was spacious and clean too, so parking felt good.

Partitioned tables and the playroom our 29-month-old loved

Inside Gankeun Galbi Seongseo Branch, the seating is separated into booths so we could eat comfortably on our own, and it was really great for bringing a baby along too. The interior condition was nice enough that it would work well for group gatherings too.

What's on the self-bar at Gankeun Galbi?

Gankeun Galbi Seongseo Branch isn't just a meat buffet — there are all kinds of food on the self-bar, let me show you in detail. First, there's ramyeon of several kinds. My husband ate two - Chapagetti and Jin Ramen..

There's tteokbokki (spicy stir-fried rice cakes) too. It had good savory depth and tasted great.

There's even pork cutlet.

The main meat corner. It was piled high with pork belly and pork ribs, and beef can be ordered separately.

Fresh vegetables everywhere too. The lettuce wraps were especially fresh, so we happily wrapped and ate.

And for dessert, bingsu (shaved ice dessert) — perfect.

Unlimited royal beef short rib: how big are the portions?

Here's the menu. We chose the royal beef short rib, makchang, pork belly and pork ribs all-you-can-eat.

This is the gorgeous royal beef short rib. They gave us such a big portion right from the start that we didn't even need to ask for a refill. Seriously, they gave us so much lol.

While the meat cooked, we brought over several tasty things from the self-bar corner. The tteokbokki and seasoned chicken were really good.

Starting with the royal beef short rib -

I didn't expect much since it's all-you-can-eat, but nope — not a trace of gamy smell, savory, bursting with juice, and chewy in texture too. Genuinely delicious.

Put a leaf of ssambaechu (wrap cabbage), dip in salt, and eat the royal short rib — pure bliss. So, so good.

Pork belly and pork ribs: sweet-and-salty done right

Next up, pork belly. The pork belly was delicious too!

We were already so full, but we couldn't not eat the pork ribs. We swapped the grill plate and grilled up the pork ribs.

Even full, my eyes went wide eating the pork ribs lol. The pork ribs here are genuinely delicious. The sweet-and-salty balance is spot on.

We even cooked up ramyeon and finished it off properly. It was even better being able to cook it to our own taste. My husband ate Chapagetti with pork ribs while the baby and I were in the playroom, and he said he was so happy (so no photo of that, unfortunately).

Is Gankeun Galbi Seongseo worth it? Our verdict

We wrapped up with a zero-sugar cola. Ahh - happiness. The royal beef short rib at Gankeun Galbi Seongseo Branch is genuinely delicious, you have to try it!! The price is affordable too, and being able to eat beef on top of that was great — the beef short rib, smell-free, savory, bursting with juice and chewy, was really that good.
