Why With Gopchang & Makchang is a good second stop in Dongseong-ro

My boyfriend and another couple came to visit Daegu, so we did a double date. We had a great first round at Gulliver Makchang, then for round two we decided on cheese-vegetable gopchang (grilled beef intestines with cheese and veggies) at With Gopchang & Makchang Dongseong-ro Branch haha. Total offal party ㅎㅁㅎ

There are countless famous restaurants in Dongseong-ro, Daegu, but I want to introduce a hidden gem for vegetable gopchang and makchang — With Gopchang & Makchang Dongseong-ro Branch!

Where is With Gopchang & Makchang Dongseong-ro Branch? Head up to the 2nd floor

The map said we'd arrived but I couldn't see it, turns out you have to go up to the 2nd floor. Keep that in mind! At night the whole street outside turns into a super hip red-lit strip haha.

You wouldn't guess it from the outside, but inside it's totally clean and pretty, like a café-bar hybrid! They used white tones, which I love, and pretty lighting as accents throughout the interior.

Window seats with an outdoor-tent feel — and a rabbit in the shop

The dining room at With Gopchang & Makchang Dongseong-ro Branch is medium-to-large, so it's spacious whether you come as a pair or a group — it can seat lots of people! Each spot has a slightly different mood, and the window seats felt like an open-air tent (yajang), which was perfect since the weather was cool and lovely that night! So we chose to sit by the window and enjoy gopchang and drinks in the breeze haha. There's a restroom inside too, and it's spotless!

Also, With Gopchang is a gopchang restaurant with a rabbit — an animal-friendly gopchang spot! There's one super cute pet rabbit haha. It's so gentle it doesn't run away even when you pet it haha. It was sleepy and dozing off, and its little bottom was so cute and pretty I wanted to give it a pat pat haha.

Free steamed egg, plus bokbunja hongcho soju from the receipt review event

I was going to order steamed egg (gyeranjjim), but it came out as a default side. A proper full basic-side setup, right? haha

With Gopchang was running a receipt review event so I signed up~ They give you bokbunja (Korean black raspberry) vinegar syrup separately, along with Daegu's iconic 'Chamiseul' soju and a little ice pitcher — you pour the soju in, add plenty of the syrup, and it becomes the most refreshing sweet-tart bokbunja hongcho soju ~! haha

It's so sweet and tangy, not bitter at all, so the soju went down way too easily haha. You should all try this combo too via the Naver receipt review event~ haha

3 servings of cheese-vegetable gopchang that look like 4

We ordered 3 servings right from the start haha. First off, the cheese stretches so well and they give you a ton of it~ And as you can see, even though it's 3 servings, the amount is genuinely like 4, it's crazy. We were like, should we have just ordered 2? Can we even finish this? But of course, since we're pigs, we finished it all and ordered another 1-2 servings on top haha — turns out our worry was completely pointless haha.

No rice cake filler: the pan is packed with gopchang only

Another thing I loved about With Gopchang: I'm not a huge fan of rice cake, I'll eat it if it's there, but most vegetable gopchang dishes come loaded with rice cake filler. With Gopchang doesn't include rice cake at all, and I genuinely loved that!!

It always felt like other places had more rice cake than gopchang, like they were padding it out, but With Gopchang is 100% packed with gopchang through and through!

The cheese stretches beautifully and there's a ton of glass noodles too!! Loads of crunchy cabbage as well!! Work hard, cabbage, or whatever your job title is haha.

The closer you look, the tastier it looks. The seasoning comes evenly coated from the start, and sesame seeds are sprinkled on top too. Mix it up, mix it up!!

The portion is honestly a bomb, isn't it insane? haha Why isn't everyone coming to With Gopchang? This much of a hearty cheese-vegetable gopchang is just waiting for you!!

How does the gopchang taste? Soft, with no gamey smell

The gopchang at With Gopchang tasted exactly as good as it looks! It's on the softer side rather than chewy, melting in your mouth ㅠㅠ There's no gamey smell at all. I think even gopchang beginners would love this place!

And since we're pigs, we ordered another serving of gopchang and extra cheese on top! So that's round two ! haha

Wow, with the extra cheese it basically turned into cheese gopchang muchim (spicy tossed gopchang)!! haha
