Hanam jjukkumi restaurant with mild spice and refillable sides

In short

Jigueseo On Jjukkumi Hanam Main Branch is a jjukkumi (spicy stir-fried webfoot octopus) set-meal restaurant on Seohanam-ro 390beon-gil in Hanam, Gyeonggi. The set meal is ordered by kiosk in a multi-floor building with a very large parking lot, and the spice level stayed manageable even for a self-declared spice wimp, with refillable side dishes led by pollack roe, perilla oil to mix through the jjukkumi, and sotbap with scorched rice. Only the sotbap came out a little too moist; otherwise Jigueseo On Jjukkumi Hanam Main Branch is a strong pick for a family gathering.

This time I want to introduce a great restaurant in Hanam — Jigueseo On Jjukkumi! If you love jjukkumi (spicy stir-fried webfoot octopus), you're going to love this place 🐙

Parking and the space: a huge lot and an outdoor garden out back

Jigueseo On Jjukkumi Hanam Main Branch has a genuinely huge parking lot, so it seemed like a really good spot for families. Not having to worry about parking was honestly a big plus. There's a big neon sign and lots of lighting out front, so it's easy to spot even at night and the atmosphere really pops. The building itself has several floors and felt pretty large in scale, and out back there's an outdoor garden-style space with tables and lighting set up beautifully. Sitting out there on a nice day would be even more charming — next time I'm going to book an outdoor table.

Refillable side dishes at Jigueseo On: the pollack roe steals the show

As soon as I sat down at Jigueseo On Jjukkumi Hanam Main Branch, the side dishes came out first, and they were genuinely substantial. Seasoned bean sprouts, japchae (stir-fried glass noodles), jellyfish cold salad, and napa cabbage kimchi were all delicious, but the pollack roe was amazing..! Not too salty, with just the right amount of savory depth, so I kept reaching for it with rice — that's probably why it's such a popular side. Refills are available too, so I ate without holding back. With side dishes this good, satisfaction was already high before the main dish even arrived.

How spicy is the jjukkumi set? Mild enough for a spice wimp

The main jjukkumi set had just the right amount of spice — I'm a total spice wimp and I could still eat it comfortably. The jjukkumi came out stir-fried in spicy sauce, nice and plump, topped generously with sesame seeds and scallions for great aroma too. The octopus itself had good thickness, so the texture was satisfying, and the sauce wasn't overly sweet — the spicy-salty balance was just right.

Don't skip the perilla oil served with the jjukkumi

The key here is the perilla oil that comes with the meal — mixing a little into the stir-fried jjukkumi sent the nuttiness through the roof. I would have regretted it if I hadn't added it, haha. They said they use wild-caught ingredients, and it definitely tasted clean without any fishy smell.

Sotbap and scorched rice: the one letdown

The sotbap (hot pot rice) that came with the meal was another charm point unique to this place. At first I ate it with rice and side dishes, and after finishing, they poured water into the pot to make nurungji (scorched rice) — the whole process was quite fun. The only letdown was that the sotbap came out a little too moist; if the rice grains had been a touch firmer it would have been perfect, ugh. Still, the nurungji itself was nutty and filling, a perfect way to finish, and adding a bit of leftover sauce and kimchi made for a satisfying last bowl.

Why Jigueseo On Jjukkumi works for a family gathering

Overall, both the side dish spread and the main dish quality were excellent, so if you're looking for a great jjukkumi restaurant in Hanam, I'd strongly recommend Jigueseo On Jjukkumi Hanam Main Branch. The price for the set meal wasn't too heavy either, so the value was solid, and they said takeout is available too, which is good to know if you'd like to enjoy it simply at home. The staff were also friendly, so overall satisfaction was high. It's a place you can bring your parents or the whole family without any worry, so next time I want to go again with my whole family 😊 And the best part — on my way out, I walked past the outdoor space behind the building again, and the lighting setup was so pretty it made for great photos. Coming during the day would probably give it a totally different vibe.
