It was such a gorgeous weekend that staying home felt like a waste. So I took a quick drive from Dasan-dong to Byeollae for a little dessert hunt haha. This time I was properly obsessed with a place that word of mouth keeps calling the best financier spot in Byeollae — Byway Bakers.

As a certified bread lover, I couldn't skip a hotspot like this. I've been trying to cut back on flour and sweets for my health lately, but the baked goods here were genuinely impossible to resist haha;; The second I turned into the alley near the shop, that nutty, sweet butter smell hit me and I basically walked in like I was hypnotized. The exterior already had such a hip, emotional vibe that I took way too many photos before even stepping inside.

Byway Bakers Byeollae Branch has display cases absolutely packed with baked goods and bakery items. Walking in, the cozy interior and the smell of fresh bread instantly put me in a good mood. The lineup was no joke — I was especially shocked by how many kinds of salt bread they had.

It wasn't just basic salt bread — there was crack salt bread, wakppu salt bread, and more, and the salty, nutty smell was seriously tempting.

Seeing how plump and delicious they looked, I firmly promised myself I'd come back to sweep up every kind of salt bread next time lol. But today's main target was something else, so I held back my rising urge to buy.

Why a 5-piece financier box at Byway Bakers costs less than singles

Byway Bakers financiers are much cheaper when packed into a 5-piece box compared to buying them individually. There's a fun range to choose from too — plain, chocolate, salty caramel, and more. I'd finally arrived at the financier corner, my real target, and I had huge expectations after reading so many rave reviews calling it the definition of crispy-outside, moist-inside.

Another star that completely stole my attention from the Byway Bakers showcase was the fig tart. Seeing that glossy, jewel-like shine, there was no way I could skip it.

Home cafe test: how the Byway Bakers financiers tasted

The Byway Bakers financiers were crisp outside, chewy at the edges, and moist inside. I carefully carried them home like precious cargo, set them on a pretty plate, and opened up a home cafe right away. I took a big bite of the financier I'd been most excited for first, and wow — the crunchy sound alone was art, and the deep flavor of good butter wrapped around my whole mouth. It was seriously amazing. The edges were super chewy and the inside was moist like pound cake — exactly the texture I was hoping for. It paired perfectly with Americano. (Sorry, no photo of this one — I was eating too fast ㅠㅠ)

My husband and I polished them all off on the spot with a cup of coffee. We both kept gasping in admiration as we ate. Thanks to the delicious dessert, all the afternoon sluggishness and fatigue just melted away.

Next time I'll definitely head back with our dog for a walk along the nearby cafe street, and to sweep up all the salt bread I missed today.
