I've been really into bakery-hopping lately, and this time I found a place that's exactly my taste. It's Orange Bagel, in Gosaek-dong, Gwonseon-gu, Suwon — one of those cafes near Seoul that's worth the drive. It's a huge bagel café that feels like it's been transplanted straight from Brooklyn, and the mood shifted the moment I stepped through the door. Among Suwon cafes, one where the space itself is the whole experience like this is pretty rare..🫧🤎

What the New York–style bakery café in Suwon looks like

The exterior of Orange Bagel is full-on American vibes 🇺🇸 — the kind of sign that greets you in the U.S. 〰️ It's a perfect match with the New York subway touch too.

The moment you step in, light pours through the floor-to-ceiling windows, and the exposed concrete pillars, vintage props, and red booth seats come together to feel like a real New York diner.

They'd put careful seasonal decor everywhere, so there were tons of photo spots. When I went, the Halloween decorations were in full swing — pumpkins, candles, and a vintage desk all combined so beautifully. Whoever runs this place definitely has serious taste..

The scallion cream bacon bagel is piled with so much scallion it never gets greasy, and the sesame-crusted cream cheese bagel has an insane thickness of cream. The shrimp-packed roll and the bagel topped with a whole corn cob were also love-at-first-sight visuals 🌽🤍

Is the Laugen butter bagel worth 6,900 won?

The one thing you absolutely must try at Orange Bagel is the Laugen bagel. The Laugen butter is ₩6,900, and this was actually my first time trying one — I instantly understood why everyone keeps talking about Laugen bagels. The outside is baked to a deep, glossy brown with a chewy bite, while the inside is moist and densely packed. Coarse salt is pressed into the top, giving it a salty edge, and sandwiched inside is a thick slice of butter. The combination of that saltiness with the nutty butter is seriously addictive..🤤 They say they only use French and Canadian flour with French Président butter, and you can genuinely taste the difference in the wheat aroma of the dough. The Laugen bagel isn't meant to be reheated in the oven, so it's best eaten right after you get it.

The deep choco bagel is coated whole in chocolate, so there was no way I could walk past the display without grabbing one.

There's also a Good Morning Set for ₩7,500 until 10am. Set O comes with Americano + plain bagel + cream cheese, and Set B is plain bagel + mushroom soup — really good value for a morning brunch.

The mushroom cream soup you can add for brunch is ₩8,000, with a strong mushroom aroma and a thick, heavy cream that seems perfect for dipping a bagel into. I definitely need to try the mushroom cream soup next time 😣

How to use the self-service oven at Orange Bagel

There's a self-service oven zone in-store where you can warm up your bagel so it feels freshly baked! Preheat for 3 minutes, then toast the bagel alone (no plate) for under 2 minutes. Just note that bagels with butter, chocolate, or cream fillings, along with the jambon-beurre and salmon bagels, are not allowed in the oven — be sure to check before you heat one up ❤️🔥

Indoor seats and the third-floor outdoor terrace

Seating is so plentiful that it's great for working solo on a laptop, or for a group of four or five chatting away. There are several large tables too, so I think there's little to worry about even if you come as a group!

And the real showstopper is the third-floor outdoor seating! This is basically New York City meets Homaesil-dong.. Doesn't it look exactly like something out of a movie? It might be the best spot nearby to feel like you're in New York 🗽🇺🇸

Final verdict on Orange Bagel in Suwon

It's a solid stop for a café drive on the outskirts of Seoul, and since it opens early, it's also great for an opening run. Fresh bagels come out twice a day, morning and around noon, so if you want a wide variety to choose from, I'd recommend visiting a bit earlier, around 10am. Space, taste, and parking all line up perfectly, so I think I'll be back again soon. The Laugen bagel especially is the kind of taste that makes me want to come back and get a box whenever it crosses my mind.
