Jamsil Italian restaurant, three plates on an autumn terrace: Allegro

Last week, for a close friend's birthday, I wanted to do something a little special in Jamsil, so I booked Allegro, a place where you can eat while listening to live jazz. It's a new Italian restaurant in Bangi-dong that I'd been curious about, and after visiting in person, the food was great and the atmosphere was even better — I really want to recommend it to anyone looking for a special meal in Jamsil.

It's close to Exit 2 of Songpanaru Station too, so it's easy to reach by public transport.

What Allegro looks like outside and inside

Allegro, the new Italian restaurant in Songpa, sits on the 3rd floor of the building housing Glory Kalguksu.

You can't see inside the 3rd floor from outside, so it already felt a bit more private before I even walked in.

There's a menu board out front on the ground floor, so you can check the menu before heading up.

Allegro is an Italian restaurant built around live jazz, and a different musician performs every single day.

We'd booked the 7:30pm jazz set, so we headed up to the 3rd floor feeling pretty excited.

Since this was a birthday dinner, the interior atmosphere mattered a lot to us, and Allegro delivered — modern, upscale, and with live jazz on top, the vibe was really great.

The night we visited featured the Idaun Trio, and the vocalist's voice was lovely — that easy, relaxed jazz mood meant we got to enjoy the music throughout the whole meal.

You could see Lotte Tower through the window too, which made me think this would be a great spot for a Jamsil blind date, anniversary dinner, or birthday — something a bit special.

I usually go to loud, lively restaurants, so sipping beer and spritz while jazz played softly in the background felt like a totally different experience.

Eating with jazz played live right in front of us, not through speakers, definitely made the atmosphere feel special.

The way the musicians genuinely seemed to enjoy playing was striking too, and we naturally found ourselves getting drawn into the performance.

There was a wide range of dishes on the menu, and we ordered three: seafood salad (₩20,000), melanzane (₩19,000), and sous-vide pork neck steak (₩33,000).

Seafood salad, 20,000 won

I don't usually order salad, but since it was my friend's birthday, I went for the seafood salad.

And wow — I would've really missed out if I hadn't ordered it. The fun textures of the fresh seafood combined with the bright, tangy sauce made it delicious.

With a cold draft beer and a refreshing spritz alongside it, it paired really well with the jazz.

Melanzane, 19,000 won

Melanzane, a dish made with eggplant, combined a soft mix of tomato sauce and cheese with well-cooked eggplant.

Its rich, dense texture was filling even before we'd properly started eating.

With the melody of the jazz and the delicious food together, it felt like I was the one getting the birthday present, even though it was my friend's day!

Sous-vide pork neck steak, 33,000 won

The sous-vide pork neck steak came out with cream sauce and fries.

The sous-vide meat was tender and generously portioned, making it a solid main.

It was so clean and nutty in flavor, paired with an appealing sauce, that I found myself wondering, wait, is this really pork?

We also checked out Allegro's outdoor space, which felt perfect for a glass of wine or beer in the early-autumn weather.

It felt a bit like visiting a European home — cozy yet exotic, with a charm completely different from the indoor space. In cool weather especially, it seemed like a great spot to just relax and unwind on the terrace.

Is Allegro worth it for a birthday dinner in Jamsil?

What stood out most about Allegro, the new restaurant in Jamsil we visited for my friend's birthday, was being able to enjoy delicious Italian food alongside live jazz. It's not just a place to eat — you can spend a relaxed evening listening to a live performance, which makes it a great fit for a birthday, an anniversary, or a blind date, something a bit out of the ordinary.

The food was consistently good across the board, from the seafood salad to the melanzane to the sous-vide pork neck steak, and with the Lotte Tower view and the outdoor terrace, it's worth a visit if you're looking for a restaurant with great atmosphere in Jamsil.
