How the 208°C volcanic stone grilling service works

One of the best things about Ssosam 208 is that staff grill the meat from start to finish! Once the volcanic stone plate hits 208°C, they start grilling haha. It was the weekend so there were quite a lot of customers, but they still grilled everything for us the whole way through — I loved being able to just talk without worrying about the meat!

They didn't char the meat, just grilled it perfectly golden brown — I couldn't take my eyes off it 🤤 Doesn't it look so tempting haha!

Kimchi, tofu, and pineapple grilling together on the stone plate

The kimchi, tofu, and pineapple also got grilled up beautifully, and the meat... wow, it was so good!

A golden-brown grilled piece of pork belly

There was a nice balance of savory fat and lean, clean-tasting meat, so every bite was both savory and light ✨ Such perfectly grilled pork belly! Juicy, tender... the grilling service is so great 👍

Meat dipped in Ssosam 208's special volcanic soy sauce

Volcanic soy sauce with myeong-i namul and wasabi

Ssosam 208's special volcanic soy sauce! There's a reason I recommend it... sweet, sour, and spicy all at once! Dip it in generously! The umami is amazing 👍

Pork belly always needs myeong-i namul (wild garlic leaves)! And wasabi 💚 The combo of rich meat, tangy myeong-i namul, and sharp wasabi... I'm drooling just writing this 🤤

A bowl of water naengmyeon with icy slush

Water naengmyeon midway, snow kimchi fried rice to finish

Cool water naengmyeon (cold noodles) is just perfect to have partway through the meat haha. The icy slush on top looked so refreshing just to look at. Mixed in some mustard and vinegar haha.

Wrap some meat in the noodles and take a quick bite! There's no such thing as this combo tasting bad! 💛

Volcanic stone snow cheese kimchi fried rice topped with cheese

The must-order menu at Ssosam 208 — volcanic stone snow cheese kimchi fried rice 🧀🍚 I've been to Ssosam multiple times, and for me the fried rice isn't optional, it's a must! There are bits of meat mixed into the fried rice too, and the spicy-sour-sweet kimchi fried rice comes piled with seaweed flakes and snow cheese!

Usually at a BBQ restaurant people order rice with doenjang stew, but here it's definitely the fried rice...! Even my fiancé, who doesn't usually like BBQ-restaurant fried rice, cleaned his plate haha.

Is Ssosam 208 a good Suwon Station date course?

We properly enjoyed everything from the mixed stone-grill platter to the water naengmyeon and snow cheese kimchi fried rice! The mixed platter was great for trying different cuts of meat, the cool water naengmyeon in the middle was refreshing, and finishing with the snow cheese kimchi fried rice made for a perfect weekend dinner 🤍 Above all, it was a great choice for a day when you're on a date near Suwon Station and craving good meat! If you want a date where the atmosphere is nice and you can relax and chat thanks to the grilling service, I'd recommend Ssosam 208 Suwon Station Branch ✨ I think I'll be thinking of this place again the next time we want to go on a date near Suwon Station :)
