Spicy minari shabu lunch set with spring rolls in Suwon: Sodamchon
In short
Sodamchon Suwon Jeongja Branch is a shabu-shabu and Vietnamese spring roll restaurant on the 4th floor of Gyeongseong Building on Jeongjacheon-ro in Jangan-gu, Suwon, Gyeonggi. Visiting while my partner was on leave, I ordered the spicy minari shabu lunch special set for two, chose the beef half brisket and half chuck, and used the self-refill bar for spring rolls, wide kalguksu noodles and egg vegetable porridge. With a free dessert café by the counter, Sodamchon works just as well for a family meal as for a date.

My partner finally had a day off, so after a trip to Starfield near Hwaseo Station, we stopped by Sodamchon Suwon Jeongja Branch, a well-known shabu-shabu spot in Suwon.

Where is Sodamchon Suwon Jeongja Branch, and where do you park?

You can park at Seonil Parking Lot, across from the Lotteria two buildings over, and if you register your car number after eating, they support 90 minutes of parking fees — very convenient if you're driving.

After parking, we headed back to Gyeongseong Building, took the elevator to the 4th floor, and found the clean, tidy entrance to Sodamchon.

Inside Sodamchon: seating and layout
The inside of Sodamchon Suwon Jeongja Branch was really spacious and comfortable.

There were sofa seats for 4, plus tables for 6 and 8, giving plenty of room — looked perfect for a family meal or group gathering!👍🏻
I love minari (water dropwort) so I always go for shabu-shabu with it! They had spicy minari shabu on the menu, so I ordered it for two, choosing the beef split half brisket, half chuck.
What's on the self-refill bar at Sodamchon
Sodamchon, a shabu-shabu and spring roll specialist, had everything from a starter soup and salad to a wide range of vegetables and shabu-shabu ingredients, so it was easy to grab whatever we liked.
You can go back for more as many times as you like, so just take what you'll actually eat!! Let's protect the planet together ♥
Mushrooms, dumplings, fried tofu, rice cakes, sweet pumpkin, bean sprouts, napa cabbage — so many good ingredients for shabu-shabu and spring rolls, right?!!
There was also broth tteokbokki and dinner rolls, so we brought those along with a pumpkin salad.

We hadn't even started the shabu-shabu yet, haha 😍 but the pumpkin salad, butter rolls, yeolmu kimchi noodles and broth tteokbokki were all delicious as starters!

The tteokbokki tasted like the Sin*-brand style — so good I went back for two refills!! Sodamchon👍🏻 they're great at tteokbokki too😋
Spicy minari shabu for two: what comes with the lunch special set

Here's the main dish — spicy minari shabu for two. The spicy broth loaded with minari smelled amazing, I loved it.

Since we ordered the lunch special set, the beef came with wide kalguksu noodles and ingredients for making egg vegetable porridge too.
Sodamchon's little dipping plates were pretty unique and convenient — each sauce spot had a label, so it was easy to know where to put what.
We grabbed sauces and toppings from the self-refill bar and got fully set up to enjoy shabu-shabu and spring rolls 😆 Good good 👍🏻 confirmed Suwon shabu-shabu spot🙌🏻🙌🏻

From spring rolls to wide kalguksu and the egg vegetable porridge finish
Spring rolls, ready to go!!! Once the vegetables and shabu-shabu ingredients came to a bubbling boil,

in went the good beef!!!! We cooked the meat just right, wrapped it in rice paper, and ate it up happily!

With sauce, meat and crunchy vegetables piled in, every wrap was seriously good no matter how you made it!!!
After the dumplings cooked through and we'd had our fill of meat and veggies, we boiled up the wide kalguksu noodles plus extra kalguksu and hand-torn dough (sujebi) from the self-refill bar.
The wide kalguksu noodles soaked up the shabu-shabu broth so well — such a treat!

They didn't get mushy at all — nice and chewy!!
The real finish to shabu-shabu?!! It's the egg vegetable porridge, haha. We scooped out the old broth, brought fresh broth from the self-refill bar, added just the right amount, and made porridge that warmed us up from the inside out.
The free dessert café at Sodamchon
Another thing I loved after finishing the meal — a small free dessert café tucked behind the counter.

You know how there's a separate stomach for dessert? Without having to move to another café, we could relax right there with ice cream, coffee, and juice.
The ice cream was even fancy, haha — cookies and cream, chocolate, and green tea flavors on offer👍🏻
Who Sodamchon Suwon Jeongja Branch suits best
I'd recommend Sodamchon💛 to anyone near Suwon's Starfield or Hwaseong Haenggung who wants shabu-shabu and spring rolls in Jeongja-dong, Suwon.
From shabu-shabu to spring rolls, kalguksu, and egg vegetable porridge, it was a healthy, filling meal in one sitting, and with the self-refill bar and dessert café, it made for a great spot for a family outing or a date. The spacious, comfortable dining room also makes it a good pick for families with kids🙌🏻
