Weekend lunch with a kid at Suwon Chinese restaurant Gang's Duck

Hi, this is Cat Cheesemom. On an exciting Saturday, my family prefers eating out over cooking at home, so we had brunch/lunch at Gang's Duck, a Chinese restaurant in Ingye-dong near Suwon City Hall station.

Gang's Duck is a Chinese dining restaurant in Ingye-dong near Suwon City Hall station. It was opened by chefs who used to work at hotel Chinese restaurants — a well-known spot near Suwon City Hall! Both the food and the atmosphere were satisfying, making it a real vibe-restaurant.

The exterior has an open-air pojangmacha-style vibe, but the interior is way more stylish than the outside suggests, making it a great Ingye-dong Chinese restaurant for family gatherings.

A modern, hip vibe restaurant

Lunch menu on weekends too: what three of us ordered for 64,000 won

Gang's Duck had lunch menu available even at 11am on a Saturday. With dishes like paldojang, fish-fragrant eggplant, dandan noodles, dongpo-yuk, and Peking duck on offer, we agonized over the choices and settled on half a Peking duck, garlic fried rice, and the dongpo-yuk rice bowl.

This Ingye-dong restaurant offers its lunch menu even on weekends, so on our Saturday 11am visit, we could still order the dongpo-yuk rice bowl (lunch menu). The lunch menu items are reasonably priced too, making this a solid option for weekend lunch.

Here's what we ordered:

• Peking duck (half) ₩39,000
• Dongpo-yuk rice bowl ₩13,000
• Garlic fried rice ₩12,000

This is an upscale Ingye-dong Chinese restaurant, but it's priced reasonably enough for customers to visit comfortably, so we could order generous portions of premium dishes and still keep the total for three at ₩64,000.

Why Peking duck and dongpo-yuk are easier with a Naver reservation

Gang's Duck's Peking duck and dongpo-yuk take about 20 minutes to prepare after ordering, so we booked ahead through Naver Reservation before visiting. Same-day booking is fine too, so I'd recommend reserving if you can^^

While watching the Peking duck get carved in the hall and admiring the spacious, stylish interior, our food arrived after a short wait.

First dish out: dongpo-yuk rice bowl, 13,000 won

This dongpo-yuk rice bowl is loaded with melt-in-your-mouth dongpo-yuk (braised pork belly) in a savory-salty sauce. The sweet-salty seasoning soaks softly into every grain of rice, giving it great flavor.

It looks delicious even just visually, and it's a dish that's easy for everyone to share and enjoy. Since it's available as a lunch menu item, it's also good for nearby office workers, and it paired really well with the Peking duck we ordered today. The rich flavor of the dongpo-yuk and the clean taste of the Peking duck were a fantastic combination.

Half Peking duck, 39,000 won — the dish our kid ate most

The reason I really want to recommend Gang's Duck as an Ingye-dong restaurant is honestly because this Peking duck is so delicious. The crispy, savory skin of the Peking duck is the kind of thing everyone, young or old, would love.

Wrapping the Peking duck with cucumber and scallion in a thin, warm pancake, then dipping it in the pojangmacha-style sauce, is such a joy — the salty-sweet sauce went so well with the clean-tasting duck wrapped in the plain wheat pancake!

Dip the crispy skin in sugar and enjoy

The cucumber and scallion added a fragrant touch that made the dish even better. It was delicious to me too, but especially, my kid ate so much of it that he actually ate less of his usual favorite, fried rice^^ Peking duck really seems like the perfect dish for gatherings with lots of people — it was the best dish of our Suwon lunch : )

Garlic fried rice, 12,000 won, was a little ordinary

We ordered the garlic fried rice for our kid, and the strong garlic aroma and fluffy grains of rice were nice~ but compared to the other dishes, the garlic fried rice was honestly a bit ordinary!

We ordered fried rice since it seemed like a safe bet in case it didn't suit our kid's taste, but I heard this place is known for great Hong Kong-style egg noodles, so next time I want to try those! Apparently it's stir-fried quickly over high heat with various vegetables and egg noodles, and it's supposed to be really good.

Fried Peking duck bones: the side dish not to skip at Gang's Duck

Last but not least, the fried bones left over from carving the Peking duck! It looks like fried chicken, but the seasoning has that vibe of the dipping sauce you'd use with lamb. Red seasoning! This is also quite the delicacy, don't miss it🫶

Gang's Duck, a restaurant near Suwon City Hall, gave us a filling and delicious Saturday lunch! Among Suwon's Chinese restaurants, the Peking duck here is genuinely excellent~ whenever I crave Peking duck again someday, I want to come back to this Suwon Peking duck spot.

Even though we booked early at 11am, there were couples there too, here and there. Since it's a vibe restaurant, it seems like it's also popular as a date spot in Suwon.^^

Unfortunately, Gang's Duck has no on-site parking. We parked at the Suwon City Hall second parking lot, which was about an 8-minute walk : ) You can also use nearby public or private parking lots.

*The city hall annex parking lot, which is a bit closer, was small and full — it was pretty crowded there.
