Today, while searching for a great course-meal restaurant in Suwon for my partner's birthday, I found "Hado," a date spot in Haenggung-dong, and made a reservation. Let's jump right into the review!

How to book Hado and why the course starts at 8pm sharp

With its emotional exterior right from the start, this is "Hado," the course-meal spot in Suwon that's a beloved Haenggung-dong date destination.

It runs entirely on reservations, and you can book through Naver Reservations. We booked a weekday 8pm slot and arrived a bit early, but they told us the course would start right at 8!

At the time of our visit, Hado had two courses: the summer season course (₩69,000) and the basic course (₩45,000). We ordered the basic course for two, plus drinks — raspberry sangria (₩10,000) and lemon white spritzer (₩10,000). The total came to ₩110,000.

Open kitchen, bar seats and the birthday plating at Hado

Hado has an open kitchen and bar table, so there are seats where you can watch the chefs cooking.

The interior itself felt very stylish, and the atmosphere wasn't too loud, making it a great Haenggung-dong spot for birthday dates, blind dates, or even a small get-together.

When booking, they ask you to write the birthday person's name, so I left a note in the reservation comment — and sure enough, they plated a birthday message for us! My partner genuinely felt celebrated and was so happy about it 🥰

There was even a player at the table where you could bring your own CD and play music. We were too busy eating to try it, but it definitely added to the stylish vibe 👑

Raspberry sangria and lemon white spritzer, 10,000 won each

The first things to arrive were the two drinks we ordered — the sangria and the spritzer! Both were surprisingly generous in portion.

Two drinks — raspberry sangria and lemon white spritzer

The sangria had a strong wine aroma with a sweet taste, while the spritzer had a tangy, refreshing lemon flavor. Each had its own charm, and since they were cold, sipping them alongside the meal was really nice. Highly recommend the drinks — though they tasted so sweet and non-alcoholic that by the time we finished them, we actually felt a bit tipsy, haha.

First course at Hado: green pea tart and sweet shrimp apple tart

The first dish to come out was the tart! A green pea tart and a sweet shrimp apple tart.

Each person gets one of each, so two tarts total per person.

Plating of green pea tart and sweet shrimp apple tart

They looked pretty, and tasted great too. As recommended, I tried the green pea one first — a crispy tart base loaded with healthy pea purée. Even though I don't usually love peas, I really enjoyed this.

The second one, the sweet shrimp apple tart, was a flavor I'd never tried before! The sweetness of the apple paired beautifully with the moist sweet shrimp, and following their suggestion to eat it in one bite to really savor the harmony made it taste even better. These two tarts made for a fully satisfying appetizer!

Can you swap the pasta? Minari yuzu bisque and vongole

Next came the pasta course. The default pasta in Hado's basic course is the minari (water dropwort) yuzu bisque pasta, but you can change the type based on preference.

We kept one pasta as the default minari yuzu, and swapped the other for vongole.

Isn't the plating just gorgeous? The visuals were so good that I kept wanting to take more photos. It's a lovely Haenggung-dong spot to bring a girlfriend who loves taking pictures.

Beautifully plated pasta

We dug in right away, and honestly, it was so good, haha. The noodles were cooked absolutely perfectly — not mushy at all, with just the right amount of chew!

Vongole pasta noodles with clams

The vongole pasta had a savory, salty flavor that paired perfectly with the clams. Clean and moist — I'd definitely order this one again next time!

The minari yuzu pasta had such perfect seasoning and balance, it was clear why it's the default. It had a special flavor I'd never tasted at other pasta places, so I highly, highly recommend it! Honestly, it was so good I wished the portion had been a bit bigger, haha.

Main dish: sous vide chicken breast steak with carrot purée

Next up is the main dish of Hado's basic course — sous vide chicken breast steak. I've eaten a lot of chicken breast, but this was my first time having it prepared sous vide style, so it felt fresh.

The plating on the gorgeous dish was so stylish too. At Hado, the food isn't just delicious — the visuals are top-notch too ⭐️

Sous vide chicken breast plating over carrot purée

Underneath the chicken breast was a carrot purée. The chef kindly explained each dish as it came out, which made the meal even more enjoyable. The texture inside was incredibly soft — it didn't feel like chicken breast at all, more like a delicate, high-end fish dish. Soft and special.

Can you bring a birthday cake into Hado?

For reference, Hado doesn't allow outside food, but they do let you light a birthday cake for photos. Since I visited for my partner's birthday, I lit the candle and got some lovely photos ❤️ Thanks also for the birthday sign!

Dessert to finish: Earl Grey ice cream

After we finished the meal, the last dessert arrived. Even the dessert looked beautiful, right? This dish was the Earl Grey ice cream.

They even added an adorable little candle to my partner's dessert! It seemed like they did this because it was their birthday — they lit the candle themselves and wished them happy birthday, which made us feel really well taken care of.

So cute — and most importantly, the ice cream was incredibly rich and delicious. It melted the moment it hit my mouth, and the sweet caramel syrup cleaned my palate perfectly. It really was a delightful, delicious, and visually stunning course meal at Hado in Suwon.

Receipt review apple lemon tea and how to pay by card

At the end, they told us that if we write a receipt review, they'll give us a takeout apple lemon tea, and that we could just place our card on the little sign for them to handle the payment. Such a thoughtful touch!
