First-order 500g rule for pork belly and neck at Geobugi Dongne
In short
Geobugi Dongne Namcheon Branch is a pork belly and neck barbecue restaurant right at Exit 1 of Namcheon Station in Suyeong, Busan. On a weekend evening detour from a canceled Gwangalli drone show, the writer waited via kiosk, then ate 300g of pork belly, 200g of pork neck, doenjang-jjigae (soybean paste stew) and pot rice down to the last grain of sungnyung (scorched rice tea). Knowing the first-order rule of 500g total with at least 200g per cut, plus the all-you-can-eat self-serve banchan bar, makes it easy to order just the right amount at Geobugi Dongne Namcheon.

On our way to see the drone show at Gwangalli, we decided to grab dinner first at Geobugi Dongne, a savory and delicious pork belly restaurant in Namcheon-dong. We had no idea the show had already been canceled because of strong winds — happy fools that we were. Still, we got to eat great meat, so it ended up being a pretty happy day overall. Here's my review of Geobugi Dongne Namcheon Branch. 😸

Geobugi Dongne Namcheon, a well-known pork belly spot in Namcheon-dong, is super accessible — you can see it as soon as you walk out of Exit 1 of Namcheon Station. 👍🏻 Since you need a drink or two with barbecue, we took the subway, and it was great to have the restaurant right there the moment we got off.
Weekend evening wait and interior
We visited Geobugi Dongne on a weekend evening, and sure enough, being a popular spot meant we had to wait. You can join the queue ahead of time through the Catch Table app, or do what we did and use the kiosk in front of the store.
When our turn came and we walked in, the place was full of that savory grilled-meat smell. :) It's a great restaurant for group outings — family dinners, work dinners — so there were lots of families and groups of friends. There were also plenty of couples like us. 😸 A place that works for anyone.

You order using the tablet at the table, and a table fee of ₩5,000 is added automatically. On the table there's a grill plate along with a burner for heating up soup dishes — really nice to be able to keep your soup warm while you eat. 👍🏻

The restrooms were also separated by gender, which was convenient.
What's in the self-serve bar
At Geobugi Dongne, everything from the basic banchan (side dishes) to whatever else you need comes from the self-serve bar. It's all-you-can-eat style, so you take only as much as you'll actually eat — no food left behind, and you get exactly the amount you want. Next to the bar there were also disposable aprons for anyone who wanted one.

The self-serve bar at this Namcheon-dong pork belly spot had a nice variety of basic banchan.

- ✔️Pickled ggotchips (mustard leaf stems) ✔️garlic scapes/pickled radish ✔️pickled hot peppers ✔️white kimchi ✔️dried radish strips ✔️pickled radish for wraps
- ✔️seasoned bean sprouts ✔️seasoned bracken ✔️corn mayo ✔️spicy tuna
- ✔️ssamjang (dipping paste) ✔️spicy chili sauce ✔️barbecue sauce ✔️sesame oil ✔️salted shrimp ✔️wasabi ✔️curry powder ✔️salt ✔️seasoned laver
So many side dishes to go with the meat. 😸

Right next to it were wrap vegetables and shabu-shabu ingredients — Geobugi Dongne also offers a shabu-shabu hot pot, and you can grab those items from the same bar. :) ✔️lettuce ✔️perilla leaves ✔️shredded scallion ✔️onion ✔️hot peppers ✔️garlic ✔️garlic scapes and the ✔️shabu-shabu ingredients were all fresh and ready.

Is it good with kids? Facilities for children
Since Geobugi Dongne gets a lot of family diners, they've got things set up for kids too. There were kids' chairs, and a kids' room where children could watch media. Peeking in, I saw a few kids watching something. :)
Having facilities for kids makes this a good spot for family visits. There's even a screen in the dining area showing the play room, so parents can check on their kids anytime without leaving the table. 👍🏻

Menu and things to know before ordering
Besides set menus, Geobugi Dongne Namcheon also offers ✔️beef and ✔️pork by the individual cut, plus ✔️rice dishes and ✔️shabu-shabu, among other menu items.
⭐Must-read before ordering
- 1. First order must be at least 500g (can mix cuts, minimum 200g each)
- 2. Additional orders start from 200g
- 3. Table fee: ₩5,000
- 4. No banchan is set at the table — use the self-serve bar as you like

Eating our way through 300g of pork belly and 200g of pork neck
We debated between a shabu-shabu set and ordering meat à la carte, but decided today was a meat-only day. :) We only brought back the banchan we actually wanted to eat from the self-serve bar — no waste that way, which felt really good.

We ordered pork belly 300g and pork neck 200g at Geobugi Dongne Namcheon. Just a reminder — first orders start at 500g total, with at least 200g per cut. The pork belly and neck came out at a good thickness, with scoring cuts already made, which helped them cook more evenly.
Because the grill was already preheated from using the self-serve bar, the pork belly started sizzling golden-brown the moment it hit the pan. 🥓 The smell was insane. 😸
A lot of barbecue places cut meat into huge pieces these days, so whenever we go somewhere with grilled meat, my husband usually cuts my portions smaller for me. It was nice being able to cut it to whatever size we wanted and grill it golden-brown.

Just looking at it, you can tell it's crispy outside, juicy inside. The outside was crisp and the inside was packed with juice — completely savory. 👍🏻

The pork neck also had scoring cuts, so it cooked through nicely. Since I love vegetables, I grilled up garlic and seasoned bean sprouts on the grill too. :)

My husband kept flipping the pork neck so the juices wouldn't escape. Soft, savory, and clean-tasting pork neck. ❤️

With so many side dishes to pair with the meat, I was in heaven as a wrap-lover. The pickled vegetables in particular were all salty and savory in a way that went great with the meat, and even though I don't usually eat much shredded scallion, it paired surprisingly well here.

Doenjang-jjigae, pot rice, and sungnyung
No meal is complete without rice. We ordered ✔️doenjang-jjigae (2 servings) and ✔️pot rice (2 servings). At a lot of barbecue restaurants, it's unclear how many people one order actually serves, but Geobugi Dongne lists the serving size right next to each menu item, which I appreciated.
It said one order of doenjang-jjigae serves two, and one order of pot rice also serves two. Note that there's no plain rice bowl — pot rice only. :) It takes about 15 minutes after ordering, but you get glossy, perfectly cooked pot rice in return.

After scooping out the rice, of course you have to make sungnyung. We poured in hot water and let it steep into scorched rice tea while we ate.
The rice was so glossy and chewy that even though we were already full from the meat, we kept eating it with the doenjang-jjigae. And the sungnyung — nurungji (scorched rice) sungnyung is no joke. It was so good we finished it down to the last grain. ❤️
The doenjang-jjigae came out loaded with vegetables, meat, and tofu. Once you boil it on the table burner, you get a deep, rich doenjang-jjigae!

There were so many ingredients inside — plenty of tofu and zucchini, both of which I love! Amazing. 😸
Dessert: soft-serve cone
On the way out after finishing our meal, you can grab a takeaway soft-serve cone. :) My husband always wants ice cream after barbecue, and it's the perfect palate cleanser for dessert.

My husband, proud of his soft-serve swirling skills, made a big show of it. Haha. The one he handed me actually looked prettier than his — even though he swore he'd make his own the nicest one.

In summary
Geobugi Dongne Namcheon is right at Exit 1 of Namcheon Station, so it's really easy to get to. It's already a well-known pork belly restaurant, so we had to wait when we visited in the evening — but with Catch Table you can join the queue before you even arrive, so the app is worth using. :)
Being able to grab exactly the banchan you want from the self-serve bar means nothing goes to waste, and you only eat what you actually like. The meat quality was great too — savory with juices bursting through, a total win for value. Completely recommend it.
Above all, the owner was really kind. Even with a lot of waiting customers and tables to manage, they never lost their smile and treated every guest warmly. A place that friendly makes you want to come back. 😸 If you're doing a bakery tour of Namcheon-dong or visiting Gwangalli and want barbecue, Geobugi Dongne Namcheon is fully recommended. 😸
