Bean sprouts and bracken grilled with pork belly, Suyeong, Busan
In short
Geobugi Dongne Namcheon Branch is a 14-day aged pork barbecue restaurant right outside Exit 1 of Namcheon Station in Suyeong, Busan. Pork belly, five-layer pork belly, pork jowl, and pork neck were grilled alongside self-serve bar bean sprouts and bracken fern, paired with gat kimchi, then followed by pot rice, doenjang-jjigae, and ice cream for dessert. The open aging room and butchering counter left the strongest impression of the visit.

Today I visited Geobugi Dongne Namcheon Branch, right near Namcheon Station. From outside, the phrase '14-day aged meat, the slower the tastier' caught my eye. Once inside, I could see the meat being trimmed and even the aging room itself, which gave me the impression this place really cares about its meat. Best of all, beyond the meat itself, the sides were great too — gat kimchi (mustard leaf kimchi), grilled bracken fern, and bean sprouts from the self-serve bar — so I ended up enjoying a pretty varied meal.

Geobugi Dongne Namcheon Branch is about 34m from Exit 1 of Namcheon Station, so it's really close if you take the subway. Walking a short distance from the station, the red brick exterior and the large Geobugi Dongne sign made it easy to find.

As for parking, I couldn't confirm a dedicated parking space in the photos from my visit, so if you're driving, it might be a good idea to check with the restaurant in advance.

Interior, seating, and group rooms
When I opened the door, I was surprised at how spacious the place was. The brown seating combined with the brick interior gave it a clean overall vibe despite being a barbecue restaurant.

Every table has its own grill and personal hood, plus a tablet, so you can order comfortably right from your seat.

Overall floor and group seating
The restaurant was bigger than expected, with regular tables and sofa seats spaced out comfortably. There were also separate group rooms, which looked great for family gatherings, company dinners, or group meals. Being able to comfortably fit a large group into one space is a real plus.

There's also a separate kids' video room where children can comfortably watch videos, which was nice for a family meal out.

On one side, the owner was constantly trimming meat, which was quite impressive to watch. Seeing the meat being prepared right in front of me somehow made it feel even fresher.

What's at the self-serve bar
One of the things I liked about Geobugi Dongne was the self-serve bar.

A variety of side dishes and vegetables that go well with meat were laid out, so you can take as much as you want.

In particular, it would be a shame to skip the gat kimchi, bracken fern, and bean sprouts here. At first I thought they were just ordinary sides, but eaten with the meat, the combination was really good.

What we ordered
The meat finally arrived. The pork came out thickly sliced into several cuts on one plate, and since the fat-to-meat ratio differed by cut, it was fun grilling and trying each one.

Opening the lid revealed pot rice with steam rising. The rice grains were moist and glossy, and being freshly cooked, it was great topped with a piece of meat.

Pork belly and five-layer pork belly
The pork belly and five-layer pork belly were slowly cooked on the grill. They were thick, so once the surface was browned and I cut into them, the outside had a slight chewiness while the inside stayed moist.
I especially liked grilling the bean sprouts and bracken fern together with the meat.

As the fat rendered out while the meat grilled, it naturally soaked in — the bean sprouts turned crisp and savory, and the bracken fern's distinctive aroma and chewy texture came alive. It felt totally different from eating them as plain side dishes, so I kept reaching back and forth between a bite of meat and a bite of bracken fern.
Pork jowl and pork neck
The pork jowl was distinctly savory when grilled. As the fat melted just right, the surface browned and the savory flavor spread more the more I chewed.

The pork neck had more lean meat, so it was relatively light, making it good to alternate between cuts. The neck cut here had an unusual shape, but it was tender and just chewy enough — really good.

Gat kimchi and perilla leaf combo
The meat is great on its own, but I'd really recommend making full use of the self-serve bar side dishes here.

The gat kimchi in particular suited my taste well. Just as the savory richness from the meat's fat started to build up, the gat kimchi's sharp aroma and tangy, salty flavor cut through it and cleaned up the palate. Wrapping meat, onion, and gat kimchi together in a perilla leaf added the leaf's fragrance too, making the combination even richer.

Doenjang-jjigae and ice cream for dessert
After eating a good amount of meat, we also had hot doenjang-jjigae (soybean paste stew). Eating the warm broth with tofu and vegetables naturally made me want rice after all that meat.

And after finishing the meal, I discovered dessert as well.

After eating my fill of meat, a bite of cold, soft ice cream cleared my palate and felt like the perfect way to wrap things up.

A good spot in Namcheon-dong for aged pork
What stuck with me about Geobugi Dongne Namcheon Branch was being able to enjoy 14-day aged pork together with a varied self-serve bar. In particular, seeing the owner constantly trimming and preparing meat by hand gave me the sense that they really care about the meat.
It's close to Namcheon Station and easy to get to, and the spacious restaurant looks good for a family meal or a group barbecue outing with several people. If you want to enjoy aged pork with a variety of sides in Namcheon-dong, this is a place worth remembering. I ate well :)
