Jeonpo tonkatsu restaurant with a goods zone and 10-minute wait: Hets

In short

Hets Jeonpo Branch is a Japanese-style tonkatsu restaurant on Jeonpo-daero in Busanjin, Busan. Arriving near the end of weekday lunch meant a wait of about 10 minutes, and two Jeju black pork assorted katsu plates brought both loin katsu and hire katsu (tenderloin cutlet), with an open kitchen, a goods zone and a support event to look around. The moist, tender hire katsu was the clear favorite at Hets Jeonpo Branch.

How long is the wait at Hets Jeonpo Branch on a weekday lunch?

Hets Jeonpo Branch is a Japanese-style tonkatsu restaurant on the 2nd floor at 225 Jeonpo-daero, Busanjin-gu, Busan. Even visiting on a weekday afternoon near the end of lunch, I still waited about 10 minutes before getting in.

I go to Jeonpo often in the evenings, but visiting on a weekday afternoon is genuinely rare for me!☀️ I thought it might be a bit quiet since it was daytime on a weekday, but who knew a place could be this hot even at noon?!lol Packed with customers since lunchtime, I visited the Jeonpo Japanese tonkatsu restaurant "Hets Jeonpo Branch"!

The interior overall was clean, with a modern yet hip vibe that fits Jeonpo's atmosphere. It's a long structure stretching toward the back, which looked good for solo dining too. Especially since the kitchen is open-style, you can catch glimpses of the tonkatsu being made, so it's good to watch while waiting👀

The goods zone and the free-meal support event at Hets

Found this Hets goods zone on the way back from the restroom!👀 On one side, various Hets-branded goods were displayed. The display space itself blended naturally into the store's interior, feeling like a part of the decor itself.

✔️ Hets is also running a special event✨ Police officers, national merit recipients, soldiers, firefighters, high school seniors taking exams, and pregnant women can get either meat curry or 2pcs of boneless gara-age for free! Such a lovely, warm gesture from Hets!

What to order at Hets Jeonpo Branch: two Jeju black pork assorted katsu

Tonkatsu menu board at Hets Jeonpo Branch

The most popular menu items at Hets are the limited-quantity Jeju black pork sang loin katsu and YBD sang loin katsu! Both are best-sellers,, since they're limited in quantity, going late might mean missing out, so ordering those is a good idea too! I,,, wanted to try hire katsu (tenderloin cutlet) as well, so I ordered the Jeju black pork assorted katsu x2, which includes it💗

Table setting with pepper and truffle oil

What comes with the set, and how the table is laid out

It comes standard with miso soup and white rice! You can't have tonkatsu without white rice, right?!lol🍚 On the table, pepper, salad sauce, truffle oil, and fresh wasabi were all set out at each seat! Add them one by one to taste! The water was cold and refreshing too!!lol

Jeju black pork loin katsu: how the fat layer tastes

The Jeju black pork assorted katsu comes with a piece of black pork loin katsu and a piece of hire katsu! The moistness of the tonkatsu is visible just by looking,,,, and the moist cross-section is so impressive! It came with cabbage salad, salt, and tonkatsu sauce as well^.^

Crunchy cabbage salad with sauce drizzled on top

The cabbage salad sauce had a subtle sweetness, and the crunchy cabbage was a great side to pair with the tonkatsu>,<

A tonkatsu with a thick fat layer and moist meat texture done right! Crispy on the outside and truly moist inside,, not a hint of off smell, just proper savory flavor — a textbook loin katsu! Sprinkling pepper is good, adding wasabi is good too, I like both so I alternated,, and even the rich taste from the fat layer was delicious,,,lol

Why the hire katsu (tenderloin cutlet) was the top pick

The hire katsu (tenderloin cutlet) at Hets Jeonpo Branch was much softer than the loin katsu! I already tend to prefer hire katsu more!! And this place's hire katsu is genuinely a must-try?!lol Not dry at all, the flesh was moist and tender through and through, thick cut yet soft! And the juices came out — wow, you can see the juiciness too. My top pick is definitely the hire katsu, confirmed

Is Hets Jeonpo Branch easy for solo diners in Jeonpo?

If you're craving proper Japanese-style tonkatsu in Jeonpo, this is worth a visit🙌 Especially,,,, the hire katsu,,,🤍🎶 I completely fell for it after eating it!!!!lol There are also seats set up for comfortable solo dining, so stopping by alone for lunch shouldn't feel awkward at all!

There was a reason customers kept coming in even on a weekday lunch at Hets✨ If you like moist, tender tonkatsu, I recommend Hets Jeonpo Branch, a well-known tonkatsu spot in Jeonpo-dong
