Jeonpo café with a private group room and carrot cream pie: Hippy
In short
Hippy is a cream pie café in a red brick building on Dongseong-ro 25beon-gil in Jeonpo, Busan. On a weekday afternoon at Hippy the order was carrot cream pie, basil tomato cream pie and an americano, with a look at the private meeting room through the left-hand door outside and the hidden two-seat nook on the right. Small groups can reserve the private room by contacting the owner in advance, and Hippy's cream pies come in packaging pretty enough to give as a gift.

I heard there was a cream pie spot worth trying in Jeonpo, so I went to check it out. They make everything fresh every morning and sell it same-day, which made me even more curious.

Hippy's red brick exterior and pet rules
Hippy sits up a small alley on Dongseong-ro 25beon-gil in Jeonpo, a red brick building packed with lush green planters. Pets are welcome, but vaccination and a mode of transport (pet stroller or carrier) are required!

Inside Hippy: how busy is it on a weekday afternoon?
Step inside and you get this gorgeous interior. It's been so long since I've been to a café this aesthetic that I couldn't not take photos!

The wooden tables and chairs matched the overall café mood so well it felt even cozier. I visited during an off-peak weekday hour so it wasn't crowded, but apparently it's usually busy. Lucky for me — I got to take tons of pretty photos.

How to book Hippy's private group room
Hippy has a separate space for small gatherings. Open the door and go out, then open the door on the left, and a hidden(?) space appears.

Ta-da! Isn't it lovely? I'd love to bring friends here. Having a space just for us would honestly be amazing. Message the owner on Instagram DM or contact them directly and they'll set up a reservation!! Looked perfect for a private small gathering.
The other hidden spot: Hippy's two-seat nook on the right
On the right side of Hippy there's more two-person seating. This space has its own vibe too!

If the main café is packed, don't turn back — check out this space too. There are just too many pretty corners to walk past. A photo with the teddy bear here would look great too.
What's on Hippy's cream pie menu
The café was so pretty I forgot to order coffee at first. I was curious about the other coffee options too, but an americano felt like the right pairing for cream pie, so that's what I got.

Baked goods include Valrhona chocolate financier, yakgwa (honey cookie) financier, peanut financier, and cinnamon churro financier.

The cream pie lineup includes sweet corn, basil tomato, Mont Blanc chestnut, fig cream, Dubai chocolate, banana Nutella, tiramisu cream, lemon cake, and carrot cream.
Seriously, that's a lot!!! I don't think I've ever been to a café with this many cream pie varieties. My eyes were spinning haha. According to the owner, the top 3 are Mont Blanc chestnut / corn cream / basil tomato. I ordered the basil tomato and the carrot cake.
How Hippy's carrot and basil tomato cream pies taste

Whoa! Total visual flex, right?! Sitting by the sun-drenched window taking photos, I felt so relaxed, seriously ㅠㅠ If you visit, make sure to grab this table. Even a photo klutz like me gets amazing shots here.
Oh right! Since the cream flavors would mix, they gave us two knives. They recommended eating the carrot pie first since the basil tomato pie's basil aroma can be strong. Thoughtful owner 👍👍👍

Following the owner's advice, I tried the carrot pie first. They recommended eating the cream and the pie crust together in one bite!
On top, tons of cream! Underneath, a carrot-studded bread layer — eating them together was so good. Cream alone can get a bit rich, but paired with the crust and bread below, it wasn't too sweet at all — just right. Carrot pie can easily go wrong, either too strong or with barely any carrot flavor at all, but this one nailed it. Apparently they roast their own coffee too, which explains why it tasted so good.

Now for the one I was most excited about — the basil tomato pie!

One more close-up because it's so pretty! With the sunlight hitting it, it's even prettier.

The salty, basil-packed cream harmonized with the sweet bread underneath — now I get why they say to eat it all together in one bite. The marinated tomatoes on top added a refreshing tang, and there was even tomato cream(?) near the crust, so however you ate it, it screamed 'I'm the basil tomato pie!' The crust was crispy and delicious too. You know how pie can sometimes feel heavy and cloying — this wasn't that at all, which I loved.
Takeaway packaging at Hippy and what to order next time

It was so good I got one to take home, and the packaging was ridiculously cute haha. Would make a great gift too haha.
There aren't many cafés that specialize in pie, so I hoped more would open — turns out Hippy is actually looking for franchise partners!! Not the usual menu you see everywhere else, and it's trendy with pretty interiors too!! Next time I'll bring my family and try the corn pie and Mont Blanc.
