Men's down perm and volume magic in Dongseongno, Daegu: With Me Hair

Dori and I went on a date downtown and stopped by With Me Hair, a hair salon on Dongseongno, haha.

Dori's hair had grown out a lot, so it was time for a cut. He usually just styled it back with a blow dryer, but this time we decided to get it properly straightened.

It's right in the heart of Dongseongno, so it was easy to drop by while out on a date — and best of all, it's a one-person salon, so it wasn't crowded and we could get the treatment done comfortably.

Let me introduce With Me Hair, the Dongseongno salon where we got everything done in one visit — cut, straightening, all of it!!

Before the appointment: shaggy, overgrown back hair

Here's the before shot, haha. Totally shaggy and messy, ugh.

I personally like a clean look, but Dori kept growing his back hair out. It really doesn't suit him in my eyes, but he insists he likes this style. Honestly ;; lol.

I hated the sight of it but held my tongue... until I finally couldn't take it anymore and dragged him to the salon myself 😂.

Inside the one-person salon With Me Hair, and what it costs

With Me Hair on Dongseongno is a one-person salon, so it's never crowded and you can get your hair done comfortably!!

Personally I prefer one-person salons — at places with lots of staff, several different people handle your shampoo and treatment in turns, which makes me anxious about whether things are being done properly.

At With Me Hair, one person handles everything from start to finish, so I didn't have to worry about that at all, haha.

There's also coffee and drinks set up on one side of the salon, haha. Sometimes you get a bit peckish during a treatment — you can just grab one whenever!!

Even if the treatment runs long, it's nice to be able to sip coffee or a drink while you wait ☕.

How the cut, down perm and volume magic straightening went

First, the hair is sectioned off for a clean cut, haha. The real transformation begins!! I was curious how that shaggy mess would turn out 🤭.

Even before the cut was finished, you could already tell it looked so much cleaner, right?? Haha. Once the shaggy parts were trimmed, his whole look changed!!

This is just after the straightening solution was applied, haha. Dori's back hair doesn't have much volume naturally, so straightening alone could have made it lie too flat — but the owner rolled rods underneath to add natural volume!!

It was nice that I didn't have to explain anything — the owner just looked at his hair condition and adjusted the approach on the spot, haha.

After carefully applying the down perm solution too, we waited about 10 minutes of heat processing and 10 minutes of natural sitting time, haha.

Now it's just rinsing and the neutralizer, and it's almost done!! During the shampoo, they placed a cover over his eyes like this, so he could relax through it, haha. When your eyes aren't covered during a salon shampoo, it's awkward not knowing where to look lol ㅜㅜ.

Fine hair? The 30,000 won recovery ampoule add-on

This is right before the neutralizer, haha. Dori's hair is quite fine, so we worried the straightening solution alone might damage it, so we added the ampoule for an extra ₩30,000!!

In the end, adding the ampoule was such a good call. Even shot on a basic phone camera, doesn't his hair look glossy instead of dry and brittle?? Haha.

His hair is shining 👍👍.

His hair looks so clean now, right?? 👏👏 Gone is that shaggy look from the start — so much neater, haha.

The straightening pulled the whole texture into a neat line while naturally keeping the back-hair volume alive, so it never looked like it was plastered flat either. Total transformation into the clean style I wanted!! My mind is finally at peace lol.

At the very end they sprayed on some hair essence, which smelled amazing and left his hair feeling super soft, haha. I really liked this essence too, so I want to recommend it!!

Dori got the down perm + volume magic straightening + recovery ampoule combo. Since the cut is included with perm/straightening treatments, we didn't pay separately for it, haha.

And if you're worried about hair damage, I genuinely recommend the recovery ampoule!! If your hair is fine like Dori's, straightening can be worrying, but adding the ampoule kept his hair soft and glossy afterward — very satisfying. We paid ₩30,000 extra and it was absolutely worth it, haha.

Is With Me Hair in Daegu worth it? Final thoughts

With Me Hair, the Dongseongno salon we visited for Dori's hair!! What started out shaggy became so much cleaner and neater after the cut, down perm, and volume magic straightening, haha.

If you have fine hair like Dori and worry about damage, I'd recommend getting the recovery ampoule too — we paid an extra ₩30,000 and were happy with how soft and glossy his hair turned out afterward.
