• Parking: About 2 cars can park in front of the restaurant. If there's no space, you can use the nearby 'MD Building attached parking lot,' and parking fees (about ₩3,000 for 1.5 hours) are supported upon payment.

What the restaurant feels like inside

Soft lighting and a cozy, trendy interior are the highlights. Seats are properly separated to give a private feel, making it very suitable for couples on dates or gatherings with friends. You can really feel the vibe of an upscale American steakhouse.

Group seating is available and reservations can be made in advance. Baby chairs are also provided, so families can visit comfortably too.

Signature menu at Modak Texas Barbecue

The signature menu is the barbecue platter, smoked over oak for a long time. Melt-in-your-mouth tender brisket and pulled pork are served together generously as a set. (I had this on a previous visit, so this time we ordered steak and pasta!)

The little extras that come with the meal

After finishing the meal, there's a fun little corner where you can roast marshmallows for free inside the restaurant. Since it's a popular spot, I recommend booking ahead if you're visiting on a weekend evening or with a group.

Hello! I'm back to introduce a restaurant I visited last weekend — greetings from Daegu Durumi. It's none other than the steak restaurant near Dongdaegu Station that's famous these days: Modak Texas Barbecue.

It's a restaurant with a variety of menu items like steak, pasta, and platters! I had visited the Palgongsan branch before and remembered being really satisfied, so this time I stopped by the Dongdaegu branch for a date course. Let's take a look right away!

How to walk from Dongdaegu Station to Modak Texas Barbecue

From Dongdaegu Station, head toward the department store, cross the main road, walk a little, then turn into an alley and you'll find it. It's about a 5-minute walk!

We visited during the weekend lunch hour and there were so many customers that I couldn't get many photos of the interior!

There's a new menu item, Texas lobster, that just came out — I'll definitely try it next time.

The Palgongsan branch felt like a cabin retreat, but the Dongdaegu branch has more of an urban feel.

What we ordered: ghee-butter tenderloin steak and shrimp aglio olio

We ordered one ghee-butter tenderloin steak and one shrimp aglio olio pasta.

These nachos and the seasoning sauce that come as a basic side were really tasty.

It had a bit of a spicy tuna feel mixed with a barbecue sauce feel — a really delicious basic snack!! Good, good, good.

All three were quite delicious. My anticipation for the main dish kept building and building.

The tableside fire show for the ghee-butter tenderloin steak

Now, next up the ghee-butter tenderloin steak arrived. Doesn't it look amazing? But that's not the end.

They put on a real blazing fire show, and the heat was so intense that I could feel it even from about a meter away. The customers seated behind us had their eyes wide open too.

With ghee butter and salt sprinkled on, a savory aroma rose up and made me want to dig in right away.

You can really tell it's crisp outside and tender inside, right?

The ghee-butter tenderloin steak was so good it made me wonder, 'can a steak really taste this good?' It was tender enough to melt in your mouth, seasoned just right so it was pleasantly salty, and the buttery flavor spread through my mouth, making me genuinely happy!

It was so delicious that I kept eating piece after piece.

Shrimp aglio olio pasta: ordered by mistake instead of vongole

A pasta you can't leave out on an aglio olio date. Here's the truth: my wife and I actually both wanted vongole, but we ended up ordering aglio olio by mistake!

Still, we ate it up cleanly and happily.

There were several plump shrimp in it too!

If the steak price feels a bit much, ordering just the pasta could still make for an enjoyable date.

To wrap things up, we finished off with self-service marshmallows too. Super tasty!
