Private-room Korean BBQ dinner with highball near Gyodae Station
In short
Huiyeol Seocho Gyodae Branch is a Korean BBQ restaurant with private rooms on Beopwon-ro, between Seocho Station and Gyodae Station in Seoul. Six closable rooms come with hanwoo (Korean beef) short rib grilled and served straight off the pan, plus geumtae (golden croaker) hot pot rice, savory stew and clean-tasting Korean side dishes that paired surprisingly well with a highball. Today I'm writing about Huiyeol Seocho Gyodae Branch, which turned out to be a pretty great spot for a work dinner near Gyodae :) It has private rooms and they grill the hanwoo (Korean beef) for you, so honestly, if you bring your team's department head here, you'll score some points haha.

Location — between Seocho Station and Gyodae Station
It sits roughly between Seocho Station and Gyodae Station, so it's a convenient spot for a work dinner or gathering near the courts.

Six private rooms, great atmosphere for dinners and client meals
The main hall has neatly arranged wood-toned tables, and further in there are separate rooms with doors you can close. For a work dinner or client meal where you need to talk quietly among colleagues, having a room like this is really convenient~
There were about 6 rooms, and the space was generous, so it seemed better for focused conversation than sitting in the main hall.
Rather than feeling like a flashy BBQ joint, it has the calm mood of a traditional Korean restaurant, so it seems fine to bring older guests too. It felt exactly like the kind of atmosphere for 'a dinner to host your department head' haha.

Menu and prices — ₩99,000 grill set, lunch sets
According to the menu, the ₩99,000 grill set is a recommended-for-2 combo with 200g of grilled hanwoo flower short rib, geumtae hot pot rice, and doenjang stew.
The lunch set menus, per the menu board, were marinated short rib ₩35,000, hanwoo short rib ₩45,000, and hanwoo flower short rib ₩55,000, and there was also a Huiyeol Hansang group menu orderable for 3 or more people. With hanwoo à la carte and hot pot rice options too, it was easy to pick based on party size or occasion.
Hanwoo flower short rib — grilled and served right on the pan

What I loved here was that they grill all the meat and bring it out on a hot pan! No need to worry about who's going to grab the tongs at a work dinner — it comes out ready to eat lol.
The meat stayed juicy inside and was so tender, genuinely delicious. Rib bones, mushrooms, onion, and shishito peppers came along with it too, which made for a much better spread than just eating meat nonstop.

Geumtae hot pot rice, side dishes, and stew
When you lift the lid off the hot pot rice, there's a generous chunk of geumtae (golden croaker) on top!! The rice is topped generously with chopped green onion and then the fish, and the portion of fish looked really substantial at a glance!!
Eating the rich hanwoo short rib alongside the light, refreshing geumtae hot pot rice gave a nice range of flavors, which made the meal even more satisfying 😆

The side dishes — bean sprouts, seasoned greens, salad — were mild and homey, healthy-tasting overall. BBQ restaurant side dishes get old fast when they're too sweet or salty, but here the clean, plain flavor typical of Korean banchan (side dishes) came through, which older guests would probably like. The table looked neatly filled, which felt right for a work dinner.

To my taste, the stew hit somewhere between cheonggukjang (fermented soybean stew) and doenjang stew — savory and comforting. It was nice to eat a spoonful between bites of meat and hot pot rice, and with the side dishes all together, it felt like a full hanwoo Korean set meal.

A highball with the rich short rib
We had highballs alongside too~ Since hanwoo short rib tends to be on the fatty side, a cold, crisp sip of highball in between cleaned up the palate nicely — it paired really well!
Wrap-up — who is this place good for
Huiyeol Seocho Gyodae Branch has private rooms, grills the hanwoo and brings it out ready to eat, and serves a neat spread with hot pot rice and side dishes. It seems especially well-suited for company dinners, client meals, or meals with older guests. Especially recommended for new employees who can't grill meat well! 😚
