I heard there's a gopchang (grilled beef intestine) restaurant near Magoknaru Station that serves Korean yukhoe (beef tartare) as a basic side dish, so here's my review of Hwang Gop Magoknaru Branch~!
You can enjoy gopchang, daechang, makchang and heart all at once, and staff grill everything for you right at the table, so it's easy to eat. Especially since yukhoe came out as a basic side dish, I was satisfied from the very start — let me introduce this Magoknaru gopchang restaurant!

Where is Hwang Gop Magoknaru Branch, and is there parking?

Hwang Gop is about a 4-minute walk from Magoknaru Station Exit 2. It's close enough to walk from the station, so it's also good accessibility for a drink and gopchang after work. If you're driving, parking at the Hillstate Eco building gets you 2 hours supported. It's easy to visit by both transit and car, so the location is pretty good if you're looking for a Magoknaru gopchang restaurant for dinner!
Inside Hwang Gop: seating and the self-serve bar

Inside Hwang Gop Magoknaru Branch there were about 11 tables. There were also tables big enough for groups, so it looked good for a dinner with friends or a work team dinner too.

There's a self-serve bar set up near the front of the restaurant. If you run low on garlic, ssamjang or any basic side dish, you can just grab more from the self-serve bar. When you're eating gopchang, you keep reaching for green onion kimchi and other side dishes, so it was nice being able to grab more without feeling awkward!
Korean beef yukhoe served free as a side dish

The basic side dishes at Hwang Gop include mukguksu (acorn jelly noodle soup) with a bit of shaved ice, green onion kimchi, myeongi-namul (wild garlic leaves), and pickled onion.

And the basic-menu item that caught my eye the most at Hwang Gop! It's the Korean yukhoe. It's not something you order separately — it's provided as a basic side, and it even comes with an egg yolk properly placed on top. Popping the yolk and mixing it evenly with the yukhoe made it rich and smooth, perfect for whetting your appetite before the main gopchang arrived. The portion was also just right for a light taste before the main dish! Getting yukhoe as a basic side at a gopchang restaurant made me feel properly taken care of from the start~

Two kinds of sauce also came out together. You can dip alternately depending on your preference — personally, I preferred the one on top!
Hwang Gop menu and what to order
Hwang Gop sells basic grilled gopchang and mixed platters, as well as a hot gopchang hot pot and bibim guksu (spicy mixed noodles) that go well alongside. If grilled items alone feel like not enough, ordering the gopchang hot pot together, or pairing the savory gopchang with tangy spicy bibim guksu, would be great too! Since you can enjoy a variety of menu items centered around gopchang, it was nice having plenty of options if you're looking for a Magoknaru gopchang restaurant.
How to get the most out of Hwang Gop

On the tablet at each table, there's a separate note on 'How to enjoy Hwang Gop 100%.' If it's your first visit, I recommend reading it once after ordering!
How does the staff-grilled gopchang platter taste?

Hwang Gop's gopchang, makchang and daechang come out partly pre-cooked from the kitchen.
After it reaches the table, the staff grill it for you. Intestine dishes can get chewy if overcooked, so it's always a bit stressful figuring out when to eat it, but here the staff grilled it to a perfectly golden-brown doneness, so I could eat comfortably without worrying about the grilling. This was another point I wanted to recommend it for as a Magoknaru gopchang restaurant~

The heart had a nice chewy, springy texture unique to it. The more you chewed, the bouncier it felt, making it good to eat one piece at a time between the gopchang and daechang.

The daechang was crispy outside, tender inside! The staff grilled it golden-brown so the outside got slightly crisp while the inside stayed soft. It's delicious plain, but dipping it in sauce added extra savoriness that made it even better.

The gopchang was packed full of gop (intestine fat) inside, so the more I chewed, the more savory it got. Eating it with chives made it even better~

The makchang also had that signature chewy texture alive with every bite, so I felt crispiness → chewiness → savoriness in sequence!
Pork belly-brisket grilled in the gopchang fat

The pork belly-brisket was delicious because it got grilled together in the savory fat left over from the gopchang, adding extra flavor to the meat.
Finishing the meal with fried rice

Dessert is, of course, fried rice~! When ordering, if you ask them to fry it with whatever vegetables are left over, they'll mix those in too! I recommend the course of gopchang platter followed by fried rice to finish~

Hwang Gop Magoknaru Branch: the verdict
It had been a while since I had a gopchang platter, and overall I was satisfied with everything from gopchang to makchang, daechang and heart. In particular, the gopchang — packed full and savory the more I chewed — and the makchang — golden outside, tender and chewy inside — stuck with me. It was also great that staff grilled everything to just the right doneness, so even people who aren't good at grilling gopchang themselves could eat comfortably. On top of that, Korean yukhoe came as a basic side, and I got to finish with fried rice, so it felt like a proper full meal! The staff were also kind, so it was a pleasant meal overall~ If you want gopchang packed with gop or a variety platter near Magoknaru Station, check out Hwang Gop, a Magoknaru gopchang restaurant~!
