Mugyo-dong esthetic with private rooms: head-and-neck care at Beautae
In short
Beautae Esthetic is a one-person-room esthetic salon in the Hyoryeong Building on Mugyo-ro, Jung-gu, Seoul, between Gwanghwamun and City Hall stations. A visitor whose neck and shoulder tension had once sent her for physiotherapy booked the head-and-neck treatment, where a device worked through the head, neck and trapezius line and a bubble mask came free. Even though Beautae Esthetic never focused on the face itself, the puffiness dropped enough that a friend asked if she had lost weight.

My face has been looking especially puffy lately, and I kept getting self-conscious about my face line in photos, so this time I went looking around Myeongdong skin care and Myeongdong esthetic options — and ended up at Beautae Esthetic instead!
My neck and shoulders are usually really bad — bad enough that I've gone in for physiotherapy before 🥲 It turns out a lot of people come in for head-and-neck care for exactly that reason. Maybe that's why, but when I visited, there seemed to be more men there for treatments than I expected!
I thought this place only did facial contouring, but apparently they release everything from your head down through the neck, trapezius and back line while also giving you skin care — so I decided to try the head-and-neck treatment this time 😎 Here's my honest review!

It's located between Gwanghwamun and City Hall stations, so it's a decent spot for office workers to stop by. If you're like me and searching for Myeongdong skin care, Myeongdong esthetic, or Jongno skin care nearby your office, this is worth checking out too!
What does the inside of Beautae Esthetic look like?
Inside Beautae Esthetic, the consultation room and waiting area are separate, and every treatment room is a private one-person room. Once inside, it felt smaller than expected but clean and tidy!

There were separate spaces for the consultation room and the waiting area, and all the treatment rooms were private one-person rooms, so I liked that I could relax without worrying about anyone else around.

The waiting seats weren't just plain chairs either — there was even a spot to charge your phone 📱 a small thing, but surprisingly convenient. I could sit and wait comfortably before my treatment, and overall the atmosphere was quiet and private.
Happy Meal and Happy Box events at Beautae Esthetic

When I visited, they were running several events, and the ones that caught my eye were the lunchtime Happy Meal event and the Happy Box event 🎁 Since a lot of office workers come in for a quick treatment during their lunch break, these events seem perfect for that.
The consultation before the head-and-neck treatment

At Beautae Esthetic, they did a consultation first before starting any treatment. I mentioned that my neck and shoulders are usually really stiff and that my face tends to puff up easily.
Since my neck was bad enough that I'd once gone through physiotherapy, I've always been self-conscious about my neck and trapezius area 🥲 But they didn't just look at my face line — they checked the condition of my neck and shoulders too.
So instead of just getting facial contouring on its own, we went with the head-and-neck treatment, which releases everything from the head down through the neck and trapezius line. I came in worried about my face, but it was interesting that they also worked on the areas connected to it 👀
Head-and-neck treatment begins, with a free bubble mask

Time to start! First I changed into a disposable gown. It felt hygienic being disposable, which I appreciated.
They started with a light cleansing. Her touch was so gentle and thorough during the cleansing that it made me want to try the manual contouring treatment too.
But since I'd chosen the head-and-neck treatment that day, there wasn't a step for directly working on facial contouring — but the director noticed my skin looked dry and offered to add a mask as a complimentary extra 🥹 I really appreciated that she didn't just skip over it and actually paid attention to my skin condition haha.

So she did the mask alongside everything else! The mask wasn't a typical one — it was the type where bubbles gradually rise up over time 🫧 She explained that the bubbling helps clear out pore debris and clean the skin, and it was fascinating watching the bubbles keep rising on my face lol.
Device work from the head down the neck and trapezius line

Beautae Esthetic's head-and-neck treatment isn't done entirely by hand — a device is used to release the head, neck and trapezius line. At first I figured a device treatment would just feel like a slight tingle, but it was actually really surprising once I tried it lol.
Because wherever felt blocked up was painful, but the areas that weren't didn't hurt at all. It was fascinating that the same device could feel so different depending on the spot 👀 The areas I'm usually tense in gave a clear jolt as the device passed over, while the relatively fine areas made me wonder if it was even doing anything lol.
If your neck and trapezius are often stiff, I think you'd understand why this kind of treatment is needed. True to the name 'head-and-neck,' the treatment worked through everything connected from the head down through the neck and trapezius line.
Since I spend a lot of time on the computer, my neck tends to jut forward and my shoulders get tense often, and as the device kept working through that area, I could feel the tension gradually releasing.

Especially when it passed over the tense spots, the sensation was so different that it made me realize just how bad it had gotten lol. In contrast, the areas that weren't tense felt completely fine, which made it interesting to actually feel the state of my own body.
Does the head-and-neck treatment include face contouring?
One of the reasons I really liked the head-and-neck treatment — it wasn't just releasing the neck and shoulders, it also felt like it included facial contouring and skin care.
Releasing the head, neck and trapezius line while connecting it to the face line felt different from getting the face treated on its own. Rather than working directly and firmly on the face, they released the head, neck and trapezius area first, and by the end my face actually felt less puffy — that part personally surprised me the most 😳
Microcurrent device for skin care as well
They explained that the device used during the treatment wasn't just for releasing muscles — it also delivers skin care through microcurrent. Apparently the device releases substances that help with skin care, which I found interesting to hear about.
Being able to get skin care along with releasing the face line, trapezius and back line felt like getting two things in one haha. If you want to loosen up your body and take care of your skin at the same time, this style of treatment seems like a great fit!
What surprised me most during the treatment was definitely how different the pain levels were depending on the area! Where I'm usually tense, the device gave a clear jolt, but the fine areas felt like nothing at all. And once the treatment ended, my neck and shoulders definitely felt lighter. If your neck and trapezius are often tense, I think you'd really appreciate that post-treatment lightness.
Face line before and after the treatment 👀

Since I came in for my face, I compared before and after too! What surprised me most personally was that my face de-puffed even though it wasn't directly treated in a focused way.
My face usually puffs up in the mornings, but after the treatment the puffiness had really gone down — enough that a friend asked if I'd lost weight lol. It was surprising to see a visible change after just one treatment.
It wasn't like my cheekbones dramatically shrank, more that my whole face looked less puffy overall and my face line felt a bit more defined. Since my neck and shoulders are usually a problem area for me, having the head, neck and trapezius released together with reduced facial puffiness felt pretty satisfying haha.
Who should book head-and-neck care at Beautae Esthetic?

- ✔️ Office workers who stare at a computer all day
- ✔️ Anyone whose neck, shoulders and trapezius get tense often
- ✔️ Anyone with a stiff neck or heavy-feeling shoulders
- ✔️ Anyone who wants facial de-puffing and contouring together
- ✔️ Anyone who wants their trapezius and back line treated too
- ✔️ Anyone who wants skin care along with facial care
- ✔️ Anyone looking for Myeongdong skin care / Myeongdong esthetic
- ✔️ Anyone researching Jongno skin care / facial contouring
Since I've had bad enough neck issues to need physiotherapy myself, I could kind of see why head-and-neck treatments are so popular with people who have neck and shoulder problems.
What I liked about this head-and-neck treatment at Beautae Esthetic was that it wasn't just about facial contouring — it released everything from the head down through the neck and trapezius line while also giving skin care. If you're searching for a Myeongdong esthetic, Myeongdong skin care, Jongno skin care, or facial contouring, it might be worth looking into a head-and-neck treatment too 🤍
