I was looking for somewhere to eat dinner alone near Hwajeong Station and ended up at Min Cook Dasima, a well-known Hwajeong Station restaurant 🍣 I visited on a weekday, early evening, and luckily got seated right away with no wait! I was a bit nervous going in solo, but they had seating specifically set up for solo diners, so I ended up eating way more comfortably than I expected 😎 On top of that, this place is Blue Ribbon selected and has 20 years of history as a Goyang Hwajeong restaurant, so as someone who loves sushi, I went in with high expectations.

I heard this place has spread by word of mouth among moms in the Hwajeong area, which gave it that feeling of a Japanese restaurant near Hwajeong Station that's been steadily loved for a long time.

I visited alone on a weekday evening, and maybe because it was still early, there was no wait and I could eat at a leisurely pace.
Inside Min Cook Dasima: what are the solo dining seats like?

Stepping inside, the overall vibe was clean and tidy. There's table seating, plus a separate space set up for eating alone, so even I, there for a solo meal, didn't feel any pressure haha. Some restaurants make you feel a bit self-conscious going in alone for sushi, but this place is laid out so solo diners can eat comfortably 😊 It seems like a good option for anyone looking for a solo dining sushi spot near Hwajeong Station, or anyone who needs to eat lunch or dinner alone in the area.

It seemed like local residents would come here for weekday lunch as a go-to Hwajeong Station lunch spot, while in the evening it works both for solo diners like me and for date nights 😊

The tables have plenty of space too, so it looked like a good spot for meals with friends or family dinners as well. And since it's close to Hwajeong Station, it seemed convenient as a meeting spot too!

What comes in the 31,000 won special sushi set

What I ordered that day was the special sushi set for ₩31,000 and the flounder belly sushi 3P for ₩10,000. Even though I was eating alone, I wanted proper, delicious sushi, so I went with the special set. On top of that, I added my favorite flounder belly sushi! Even though it was a solo dinner, it felt like I was having a full sushi spread, so I was fully hyped 😳

The set had a nice variety of sushi, so it was fun picking through one by one — and honestly, seeing sushi laid out like this all at once just makes me happy 🍣 The sashimi-topped pieces in particular had good thickness and looked really appetizing, and the rice-to-fish ratio was just right. Even though I came alone,

I got to try a bunch of different types of sushi in one sitting, so I was glad I went with the special set. If you're someone like me who likes to eat a little bit of everything, this would suit you well.
Adding flounder belly sushi, 3 pieces for 10,000 won

The flounder belly sushi 3P I added on separately — that was ₩10,000. If you like flounder, you know the belly has its own charm compared to regular flounder sushi haha. I love flounder belly too, so I felt like it'd be a shame to stop at just the special set, and ordering the extra was worth it — I could really taste that signature chewy texture of flounder belly, and it was delicious 🤍

With every bite, I could really feel the texture of the fish on top of the rice, which made me glad I'd ordered the extra. And since it was just 3 pieces, it was a manageable amount to work into the special set as I went along.
