Jeonpo lunch curry restaurant with kids' spoons and forks: Sarugak20

Today I'm sharing an honest review of a delicious lunch with the kids at Sarugak20, a curry restaurant that's a lunch favorite in Jeonpo-dong!

How to find Sarugak20 from Jeonpo Station

Located down an alley about a 5-minute walk from Jeonpo Station, this Jeonpo lunch and curry favorite doesn't have a big sign — true to Jeonpo style — so you have to find it by a small standing signboard.

Sarugak20 is on the basement level, so you head down a flight of stairs, and what greets you is the counter and kitchen shown above.

Sarugak20 seating: the floor table that works with kids

The interior is a decent size with about 5–6 tables, plus window seats and counter seats, so it's a nice way to soak in the Jeonpo vibe.

Sarugak20 also had a floor table, so the kids could sit comfortably and eat.

The interior is cozy and the whole mood and lighting are great — it'd be a good spot for a blind date, or for a group of friends too.

I think the owner makes and sells the little props themselves — there were lots of cute, handmade-looking pieces around.

Sarugak20's two curry sauces and frozen curry to take home

At Sarugak20, the curry comes in two sauce options — cream curry and special curry — and you choose between them. Both look delicious and the prices are reasonable.

They even let you take frozen curry home. Since the kids loved it so much, I wished I lived closer so I could just grab some to go.

They brought kids' spoons and forks without even being asked — I really appreciated that thoughtful touch.

They even let you choose from three kinds of water — lime water, green tea water, or plain water.

What does Sarugak20's brisket cream curry taste like?

The brisket cream curry is apparently the very dish that inspired the owner to open Sarugak20 in the first place.

It's a smooth, savory signature cream curry topped with brisket — a curry flavor I haven't tasted anywhere else.

There's a really generous amount of brisket, and the sauce itself is so smooth it just slides down — the kids said it was delicious and ate it right up.

Special curry with sausage, cheese and poached egg

The special curry comes topped with sausage, cheese, and a poached egg — Sarugak20's deep, rich special curry.

There's a big, cute-looking sausage piled on, plus plenty of cheese.

Was sausage and curry ever such a perfect pairing!!

Mixing the curry and cheese into the rice, it's got a bit of a spicy kick, but even the kids ate it happily.

And once you break the poached egg and mix it all in — need I say more? It suited my own taste perfectly, and I enjoyed every bite.

Karaage at Sarugak20: 6 pieces for 6,000 won

Sarugak20's chicken karaage comes in 6 pieces for ₩6,000 — a fair price.

It must be made from chicken thigh meat because it's so tender — the kids and I both ate it right up. The karaage at Sarugak20 rounded things off perfectly.

The food tastes great and the portions are generous, yet the prices are very reasonable, and the owner was kind with nothing lacking — I want to go back again.

Sarugak20 left us fully satisfied on every count, and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a good curry restaurant in Jeonpo.
