Daegu Airport pork galbi restaurant with baby chairs: Gonghang Galbi

One night in Daegu, traveling with a 10-month-old. We were staying at the Interburgo Exco, and decided to handle dinner somewhere nearby. After two hours swimming at the Heavenly Pool, everyone was starving.

You can't fight on an empty stomach, right? The hotel only had a buffet, so we decided to head out. Ten minutes away is Bokhyeon-dong and Daegu Airport, lined with barbecue restaurants and eateries.

With a baby in tow, we were looking for somewhere with easy parking, and that's how we ended up at Gonghang Galbi (공항갈비) haha. Baby chairs, a spacious dining room, and staff who grill the meat for you — there's no more perfect spot for moms with kids! (And it was actually delicious too.) Korean BBQ near Daegu Airport with easy parking

Gonghang Galbi is easy to remember since its name literally means "Airport Galbi." I'd passed by it often on the road into Daegu from Pohang, and finally got to visit.

The lot in front easily fits 10+ cars — maybe even 20. That's how little you need to worry about parking. Even so, at around 8pm the place was nearly full.

1kg marinated pork galbi set, 66,000 won: enough for two?

Gonghang Galbi sits right in front of Daegu Airport, with lots of staff and lots of customers. We ordered the 1kg marinated pork galbi set recommended for 4 people, which came to ₩66,000 with a free drink included.

It's recommended for 4, but the two of us finished a whole set. If you're not ordering rice dishes too and just want meat with drinks, I'd say a set for two people is about right! Right after swimming, we were all starving, fair warning.

We sat at a table for four with the baby in a high chair, but they gave us two tables! Such a thoughtful gesture during their busy hours — thank you so much! Though of course, one table's burner wasn't turned on haha.

Wild garlic leaves, lettuce wraps, and more. Vegetable prices have gone crazy lately with the holidays coming up, but they still stocked the basics generously. And of course, it's all refillable at the self-serve bar — we helped ourselves without hesitation.

How do the staff-grilled charcoal galbi ribs taste?

Gonghang Galbi's 1kg pork galbi includes the marinade weight, so a set looks about this size. A kilo of beef is a lot to finish, but marinated galbi really does disappear fast. Even cooked at home, nothing beats the taste of charcoal grilling. Family meals out have always meant pork galbi, going way back.

The fact that it all arrives already grilled isn't the only upside — it's genuinely delicious. There's a distinct savory depth, and it tasted better right after the staff grilled it than if it had been left to crisp up too much. I'd recommend eating it quickly before the moisture dries out!

It was our first visit, and we hadn't come on anyone's recommendation, so we went in half-skeptical — but everyone in our group gave it a thumbs up.

What to know before visiting Gonghang Galbi with a baby

One thing: it takes 15 minutes after ordering, so put in your next order right after you've had a bite or two. Once the flow of meat stops, you lose the momentum to keep eating!

It's the kind of flavor kids would like too. Since the staff grills it, our clothes barely picked up any meat smell — amazing. We came with a baby and had zero issues the whole time.
