Why we went back to Yetnal Tongdak & Tang Seomyeon Branch
Today's story is about another visit to Yetnal Tongdak & Tang (옛날통닭앤탕) Seomyeon Branch, famous for its fried chicken and dakdoritang over in Yeonsan-dong :) I already love chicken and stew so this place is always on my mind, and the Seomyeon branch has such a great location and menu lineup that I ended up going back again hehe
Where it is: Manchwi-gil by Seomyeon Station Exit 6, open until 5:30am
Yetnal Tongdak & Tang Seomyeon Branch is easy to find — just walk out of Seomyeon Station Exit 6 toward Manchwi-gil, where all the hotspots are,, It's also open for a very long stretch, from 5:30pm to 5:30am the next day, so it's perfect not just for a first round but a second or third round too, right?

Since it's such a popular Seomyeon chicken spot, there are waiting chairs kindly set up right at the entrance — luckily on the day I visited there was no wait, so I got to walk straight in><
I spotted the 'Tteoksuni Set' sign at the entrance and got seriously tempted by the tteokbokki (spicy rice cake) and boneless chicken combo, but this time I gently passed on it to focus on the pure chicken-and-beer experience 🐷
Inside Yetnal Tongdak & Tang: seating and room for groups
Stepping inside Yetnal Tongdak & Tang Seomyeon Branch, you get a mood that's cozy and lively without being overly dim 🎵 There were quite a few group tables when I visited too!
The space felt comfortable enough for dates, but also great for hangouts with friends, company dinners, or even a casual family visit,,
Menu at Yetnal Tongdak & Tang: chicken, stew and fruit plates
This place has such a satisfying lineup of chicken, stews, fruit, various sides, and even fruit sets that you can go with friends who have totally different tastes and still have everyone happy
Yetnal Tongdak & Tang's dakdoritang is spicy with real depth of flavor ^,~ and you get to enjoy crispy chicken at the same time, nom nom. The set menus come in really generous portions too, so if you go with three or more people, it's the best value option to fill everyone up!
Our order: bone-in half-and-half chicken and pineapple
This time, instead of dakdoritang, I ordered half-and-half chicken along with refreshing pineapple 🍗🍍 I ordered it bone-in, but apparently the boneless chicken here uses only domestic Harim chicken thigh meat,, since it's all thigh meat with no dry breast, crispy-outside-juicy-inside 100% thigh, you can trust it even more
Next time I'm definitely ordering boneless!

The basic side dishes came out — crunchy, tangy pickled chicken radish and cabbage salad that are essential with chicken, plus crispy shrimp chips that are great for snacking 🥗
This delicious combo can't go without drinks, right? We added a refreshingly cold draft beer that opens up your chest just looking at it, and a clean Chamisul soju, and cheers'd happily 🍻
How crispy is the fried half of the half-and-half chicken?
The seasoned half: sweet, spicy and hard to stop eating
The fried chicken's batter was fried so crispy it made a satisfying crunch the moment you bit in — the meat inside was full of juice, showing off pure savory goodness haha
The seasoned chicken was generously coated in a special sauce that was sweet with just the right amount of spicy umami ✨ It was so addictive that one bite kept me reaching for more, and switching between a bite of fried and a bite of seasoned was so much fun!!!!!
Pineapple as a palate cleanser: how big is the portion?
I ordered pineapple wanting something refreshing to cleanse my palate between chicken bites, and it turned out to be the best value drinking snack ^,~ I didn't expect such a generous portion, and I was so satisfied — the taste was pure sweet-and-tangy, pairing perfectly with the greasy chicken! It also worked perfectly as a clean dessert after the meal
The heart-shaped fork that came with it was especially cute and eye-catching, and it lifted my mood the whole time I was eating ❣️
