Free shrimp tempura at a Hwajeong sushi restaurant: Min Cook Dasima

In short

Min Cook Dasima is a sushi restaurant on the second floor of a building near Hwajeong Station in Goyang, Gyeonggi. On a weekday lunch visit with a friend, the writer and her companion each ordered the 25,000-won sushi set meal and received three pieces of shrimp tempura free through the restaurant's review event. With a wide, quiet café-like room and one hour of free parking, Min Cook Dasima is an easy place for an unhurried meal.

Signature photo of the sushi set meal at Min Cook Dasima

My friend and I went looking for a good restaurant near Hwajeong Station today, and I'm here to share my review of Min Cook Dasima (민쿡다시마)! It's a sushi restaurant run by a master chef with 25 years of experience, so I went in with high expectations just from the name. Hearing it was selected as a '100-year store' made me even more curious.

What is the space like at Min Cook Dasima?

Min Cook Dasima is located on the 2nd floor. The moment I opened the door and walked in, I was surprised — the space was genuinely spacious.

The 2nd-floor entrance of Min Cook Dasima

The interior had a café vibe, so it felt more like a cozy café than a sushi restaurant.

Spacious restaurant interior with a café-like feel

The tables were also spaced generously apart, so it wasn't stuffy and I could eat comfortably. It was perfect for catching up with my friend at ease after a while. I usually prefer quiet, calm spaces over noisy, bustling restaurants, and this place suited that preference perfectly, haha^^

Isn't it pretty? Looking down from the 2nd floor while eating makes the sushi taste even sweeter.

What comes with the 25,000-won sushi set meal?

I ordered the sushi set meal (25,000 won), and my friend ordered the same thing.

Full spread of the sushi set meal

Steamed egg served with the sushi set meal

The sushi came with a satisfying, generous spread, and the rice had a nice chewy bite. Both the salmon and tuna were fresh, and the steamed egg was soft and melted in my mouth. The portion size was good too — the sushi pieces weren't small, so we left full. Ooh, the shrimp tempura — just looking at the photo makes me want more, hahaha.

Three pieces of shrimp tempura received through the review event

And since it happened to be a review event, we got 3 pieces of shrimp tempura for free, which we ate alongside the sushi. It was crispy outside and moist inside, and paired with the sushi it felt like a hearty meal. The batter wasn't thick, so it didn't feel greasy at all.

Min Cook Dasima menu and prices

🐟 Looking through the menu, there was quite a variety — the sushi set meal special, sakedon (raw salmon rice bowl), tuna hoedeopbap, raw salmon hoedeopbap, Japanese-style pork loin cutlet, and more. Prices ranged widely from 13,000 won to over 30,000 won, so it seemed easy to choose depending on group size or budget.

  • 🍣 Sushi set meal — ₩25,000
  • 🍣 Sushi set meal special — ₩31,000
  • 🐟 Sakedon (raw salmon rice bowl) — ₩16,500
  • 🐟 Sakedon special — ₩20,500
  • 🍚 Raw salmon hoedeopbap — ₩13,000
  • 🍚 Raw salmon hoedeopbap special — ₩16,000
  • 🐡 Tuna hoedeopbap — ₩13,000
  • 🐡 Tuna hoedeopbap special — ₩16,000
  • 🍱 Japanese-style pork loin cutlet — ₩12,000

The hoedeopbap (raw fish rice bowl) dishes in particular were reasonably priced, so they'd be great for a light meal too. The little decor pieces placed around the restaurant felt thoughtfully chosen, making it a decent spot for photos too. I fell for the sushi's taste, and I fell for the atmosphere.

The table after the meal and a view of the restaurant

Next time I go, I think I'll try the hoedeopbap dishes I haven't tried yet.^^ haha Honestly, I want to try everything. I'll work my way through the menu one visit at a time. Today's food tour was a success again.

Overall, it was a satisfying visit — spacious and cozy atmosphere, a generously packed sushi set, and the shrimp tempura on top. My friend liked it enough to say we should come again. If you're looking for a good restaurant near Hwajeong Station and want a quiet, relaxed meal, this place is worth a try. It felt like a proper feast. If you want to enjoy sushi comfortably, you should definitely go.

Parking and tips before you visit

Parking was free for 1 hour. If you're driving, just keep an eye on the time. The location is near Hwajeong Station, so it's not bad to reach by public transit either. Even during weekday lunch hours, there were plenty of open seats, so we didn't have to wait.
