This time I wanted an easy lunch at the resort after swimming, so I went looking for a place in Seogwipo that could do a group lunch box order, and ended up at Jejju Seogwipo New Town Branch in Seogwipo New Town.

Bottom line up front: the menu was varied and each box let me taste several different dishes, so it was great for eating comfortably back at the accommodation or resort!

Jejju Seogwipo New Town Branch is located at 65 Gimjeongmunhwa-ro, Seogwipo-si, Jeju.

Being in the Seogwipo New Town area, it was convenient to stop by for takeout during the trip, and while you can pack a box to eat at a sightseeing spot or your accommodation, dining in at the restaurant is also possible. For those like us who wanted to eat comfortably at the resort, packing it to go beforehand is a great option! When I visited, Jejju had branches in Dongho, Seogwipo New Town, Siheong, and Jungmun.

Looking at the menu, there were far more options than I expected. Beyond single dishes, set menus, sushi, and lunch boxes, there were also menu items good for drinks in the evening, so it seemed like a solid pick for dinner too, not just lunch.

Since our goal that day was to eat at the resort, we didn't hesitate — straight to the lunch boxes for takeout!

What we ordered: the Jejju box + the Jungmun box.

The Jejju box: a little of everything in one container

First, the one I want to recommend is the Jejju box! Opening the lid, the contents were pretty packed. Raw salmon sushi, shrimp sushi, fried fish, fried shrimp, and spicy stir-fried jjukkumi all in one box. I loved that it wasn't just one dish — you get sushi, fried food, and jjukkumi stir-fry all together.

The soft salmon on top made it the first thing I reached for, and the shrimp sushi was perfectly bite-sized too. And of course, the fried food!

The fried shrimp was crispy on the outside, and the fried fish dipped in the accompanying sauce was excellent. Sushi, then fried food,

and then the stir-fried jjukkumi on top — one box turned out to be pretty substantial.

And the thing you can't leave out of the Jejju box is the stir-fried jjukkumi.

The jjukkumi stir-fry sits on top of the rice, and mixing it all together made it spicy and really delicious. There was more jjukkumi than I expected, too, so it didn't feel like it disappeared after just a few bites.

When the spicy jjukkumi got a little too much, a sip of the broth cooled things down — then right back to another bite of jjukkumi. Kept going and going.

The Jungmun box: bulgogi instead of sushi

We also tried the Jungmun box we ordered alongside it. The overall lineup is similar to the Jejju box, but the difference is that bulgogi replaces the raw salmon sushi and shrimp sushi. It's made up of bulgogi, stir-fried jjukkumi, fried shrimp, and fried fish, so it seems like a good pick for people who prefer meat and rice over sushi.

Eating the bulgogi, then the spicy jjukkumi, then adding in some crispy fried food — the combination worked well. Comparing the two: if you want variety and abundance including sushi, I'd recommend the Jejju box. On the other hand, if you prefer meat dishes like bulgogi over salmon or sushi, the Jungmun box is a good choice too.

When you're traveling around Jeju, hunting down a good restaurant for every single meal quietly takes a lot of energy, doesn't it? Since we'd just been swimming at the resort that day, eating a lunch box we'd already picked up back at the resort was so much better than getting dressed again and heading out to find a restaurant.

Above all, having rice, jjukkumi, fried food, and sushi all in one box made for an easy meal on our Jeju trip that still felt like a proper, satisfying lunch.
