Thick beef brisket and galbisal at Chadolpung, a Dasan Korean BBQ
In short
Chadolpung Dasan Station Branch is a Korean BBQ restaurant in Dasan, Namyangju, Gyeonggi, serving chadolbagi (thin-sliced beef brisket) and other beef cuts. On a lively Friday evening, the quick-grilling brisket came with a special dipping sauce and green onion salad, followed by a spicy doenjang (soybean paste) stew and tender galbisal (boneless short rib), with soju at 3,000 won. Chadolpung Dasan Station Branch is worth a return trip on any day that calls for beef and a glass of soju.

I visited a Korean BBQ restaurant in Dasan for beef brisket after a long while. Dasan has a lot of great restaurants, and honestly, a ton of beef BBQ spots too — it's the kind of neighborhood where every single place seems to be solid. The budget-friendly beef spot I went to this time was Chadolpung.

Usually I go for samgyeopsal (pork belly), but sometimes I just crave chadolbagi (beef brisket) — oily, sizzling, and nutty. Maybe because it was Friday evening, the place was packed with customers again today — proof it's a good spot!
Where is Chadolpung Dasan Station Branch, and what does it offer?

It's located on the 1st floor at 22-74 Dasanjungang-ro 123beon-gil. Monday to Thursday it's open 11:00–23:00 with last order at 21:45, and Friday to Saturday it's open 11:00 to 1:00 the next day with last order at 23:45. Group seating, reservations, Wi-Fi, birthday perks, and high chairs are all available, restrooms are separated for men and women, and the place is wheelchair accessible.

The customers ranged from families to work dinners to group gatherings, all sorts of occasions. With this many people, the place has such a lively vibe — coming on a Friday or weekend just puts you in a good mood. I guess it's the kind of spot people flock to when they're craving good-value beef.
Chadolpung's menu: from beef brisket to rice and stew dishes

The interior has a friendly pojangmacha (street tent bar) feel, but the seating is much more comfortable and spacious than an actual pojangmacha, which I liked even more. Being a proper beef BBQ place, the menu goes beyond chadolbagi — usamgyeop, tossimsal, and buchaesal are all on offer, among other beef cuts,

and the meal menu was surprisingly extensive too. Chadol udon, seafood jjamppong (spicy noodle soup), and chadol guk-tteokbokki (brisket broth rice cakes) — dishes you rarely see at a typical BBQ place — made it perfect for a proper meal.

We ordered chadolbagi and galbisal. Of course we got our favorite green onion shreds, and kimchi and bean sprouts to grill alongside — wouldn't be complete without those, right?

How fast does chadolbagi brisket cook on the grill?

The biggest difference between chadolbagi and other cuts is how easy it is to grill. Lay down 3–4 slices, flip once or twice with a quick shake of the tongs, and it's ready to eat — so convenient. Even total beginners at grilling can handle chadolbagi with zero difficulty!

It was thicker than I expected, which gave it an extra satisfying chew. I can still picture that brisket sizzling away on the grill.

And the real kicker was the special sauce and green onion salad. The special sauce is sweet and savory, while the green onion salad is tangy-sweet with an extra kick of spice — so depending on which one you paired it with, you could enjoy the chadolbagi in different ways each time.

The doenjang stew that cut through the richness

And you can't skip doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) when eating beef. Since the meat is quite oily and can get a bit heavy, the spicy doenjang stew really cut through that richness — a definite plus.

Eating good beef after so long, I really wanted a shot of soju too, but sadly I'd driven, so that'll have to wait for next time. If this place were closer to home, I'd definitely pair it with soju since it's only ₩3,000 — great value. Soju for ₩3,000 in this economy? Hard to believe even seeing it with my own eyes!

How was the galbisal (boneless short rib) at Chadolpung?

After finishing off a hearty round of chadolbagi, they grilled up galbisal next. Even its color looked fine and delicate, and sure enough, the galbisal was incredibly tender with amazing flavor.

This was my first time at Chadolpung, and it's now a go-to budget-friendly beef spot I definitely want to revisit next time I'm craving beef with a shot of soju :)
