Yeouido IFC Mall tteokbokki: 25,000-won spicy combo, Hyeonseonine
In short
Hyeonseonine Premium IFC Mall Branch is a tteokbokki (spicy rice cake) and Korean snack restaurant on basement level 2 of IFC Mall in Yeouido, Seoul. The 25,000-won Hyeonseoni Combo Set, ordered on the kiosk in the spicy option, comes with tteokbokki, sundae (blood sausage), assorted fried snacks and a rice ball, and the heat felt stronger than Buldak Bokkeummyeon. If you pick the spicy option at Hyeonseonine, keep the plain rice ball close.

Went to IFC Mall in Yeouido and was trying to figure out what to eat simply, when I found Hyeonseonine Premium IFC Mall Branch!
Tteokbokki is a dish that never fails no matter when you eat it, so I walked in without much thought haha.
Where is Hyeonseonine Premium inside Yeouido IFC Mall?

Hyeonseonine's tteokbokki is inside IFC Mall in Yeouido, so it seemed good both for a meal while shopping and for nearby office workers stopping by for lunch or dinner.

Even though it's a snack restaurant, there were tons of people. There are tables not just inside but also outside, so there's more seating than you'd expect. A great tteokbokki spot to hit when a sudden craving strikes in Yeouido!
Hyeonseonine's menu and how kiosk ordering works

You order through the kiosk.

I ordered the Hyeonseoni Combo Set for ₩25,000, and by the time I took a photo of the kiosk later, everything was sold out..... Doesn't that basically confirm it as a top Yeouido tteokbokki spot?

Besides the set, they also sell à la carte items, and even the nostalgic Pikachu pork cutlet.

Hyeonseonine also sells beer

A review event I discovered after ordering! Not just Naver receipt reviews but Google and Daum too are eligible! Leave a review and get a fried rice cake or savory mayo rice ball

The origin display board, shown boldly — rice, pork, and chicken are all domestic (Korean)!!

Grab an apron, pickled radish, utensils, salt, and a small plate from the self-serve bar before the food comes out!

Hyeonseonine's tteokbokki, a well-known Yeouido spot, apparently started as a street cart in 2004 and expanded on the strength of its spicy tteokbokki alone.
How spicy is Hyeonseonine's spicy tteokbokki?

A combo where you get tteokbokki + sundae + fried snacks + rice ball all at once! Rather than just eating tteokbokki alone, you can dip the sundae in the tteokbokki sauce too, dip the fried snacks too, and take bites of rice ball when it gets too spicy — I was glad I ordered the set.

Today's main dish: Hyeonseonine's spicy tteokbokki! I usually like spicy food so I ordered the spicy option without much hesitation, but one bite changed my mind lol

It was quite a bit spicier than I expected. At first the spicy seasoning flavor felt fine, but as I kept eating, the heat kept building up in my mouth.

Personally, if you're weak to spicy food, I'd recommend choosing Hyeonseonine's spicy option carefully❗ The heat level is beyond Buldak Bokkeummyeon!!! All you spice-pride people, gather here🙌
Sundae dipped in Hyeonseonine's tteokbokki sauce

It'd be a shame if sundae was missing from tteokbokki haha. The sundae had a chewy yet soft texture, good even on its own, but for me, dipping it deep into the tteokbokki sauce was the tastiest way.

The mild, savory sundae pairs well with the spicy sauce, and eating sundae while working through the spicy tteokbokki felt like a brief break.
Crispy fried snacks soaked in the spicy sauce
Fried snacks are a menu item I can never skip when eating snack food❗ The set's fried snacks include fried dumpling, sweet potato, squid, gimmari (fried seaweed roll), and vegetable.

The outside was crispy to bite into, and the texture inside varied by ingredient, so it was fun picking through them. After eating some plain, I ended up dunking each one into the tteokbokki sauce! Even though it's spicy, this is just too good — sss-hah

You know that feeling when the sweet-spicy sauce soaks into the crispy part and it turns moist👍 Especially if you love tteokbokki sauce, I'd really recommend ordering the fried snacks together.
Why the rice ball saves you from the spicy set

And the rice ball, which turned out to have a bigger presence than I expected that day! At first when ordering, I just planned to eat it alongside the tteokbokki, but once I got into the spicy tteokbokki, the rice ball started to feel almost essential lol
When the spiciness suddenly spikes, one bite of the savory, mild rice ball gives you a moment of relief!

Personally, if you're choosing the spicy option at Hyeonseonine, pairing it with the rice ball was a pretty solid combination. Hyeonseonine's spicy tteokbokki was personally spicier than I expected, and the heat tends to build the more you eat, so pairing it with sundae, fried snacks, and especially the mild rice ball worked really well.
No spice-pride allowed here😅
