Songdo sushi restaurant for a friends’ meal: Sushi Doku The Songdo

I decided to meet a friend for a meal after ages. Honestly, cooking at home has felt like such a chore lately 😭 and even figuring out what to eat for three meals a day is work. Some days, I just want someone to set a meal in front of me—and this was exactly one of those days.!!!! 😅 We were choosing a menu, sushi came up, and that was it. Hehe~

Sushi is hard to make at home anyway, and when you think about preparing and handling all the ingredients, isn’t it best just to go somewhere delicious and eat it? 😅 That’s how my friend and I ended up at Sushi Doku The Songdo (스시도쿠 더송도).

It is in Songdo Onesta, so it was easy to find, and the location seemed great if you are looking for sushi in Songdo. !!! :)

Sushi Doku, easy to find at Onesta

Sushi Doku is on the second floor of Songdo Onesta. There are so many restaurants in Songdo that deciding where to go can become a task in itself whenever I meet a friend, but once we settled on sushi that day, I felt at ease. :) It is known as a good sushi spot too, so I was quietly excited. Once we went in and sat down, it finally felt like I could properly relax. Hehe 😊

There may be a wait! That is how well-known it is for sushi in Songdo. Whenever I came to Onesta or Songhyeon-a, I wondered, “What is this place?? Why are there so many people???” But really!! I was so glad I came! It is such a lovely place to visit on a day when you are craving sushi. 🌸

Ordering the 10-piece Premium Sushi Special Set

After looking over the menu and debating for a while, I ordered the 10-piece Premium Sushi Special Set for ₩25,900.

I debated between having only sushi or getting a set meal, but I wanted a proper meal that day, so I chose the Premium Sushi Special Set. With 10 pieces, it was neither too much nor too little, and it was just right for lunch. :) 👍 The best, the best!! Once the sushi arrived, it was fun trying one of each kind, and I loved sitting across from my friend, eating them one by one, and talking about which was tastier.

I think sushi is always best eaten right away. As I had a bite of rice and fish together, dipped it lightly in soy sauce, my chopsticks just kept moving. 🌸

The interior at Sushi Doku was distinctive, and its upscale atmosphere made me feel looked after. 💚 Since I have a child, when I come to a nice restaurant like this, I think of my child first. Sushi Doku has everything from high chairs to a kids’ set, so I would not have to hesitate about visiting.! Next time, I am going to come back with my child!! :)

Why I noticed the ingredients and aging

One of the things Sushi Doku emphasizes is its ingredients and aging process. They say they select ingredients that can be sourced domestically, prepare them using traditional Japanese aging methods, and use up that day’s ingredients on the same day. I tend to notice these things when choosing a sushi restaurant, especially because ingredient management matters so much when you are eating raw fish.

Most of all, I liked that I could have a proper sushi meal without the prices feeling too burdensome. 🌸 It made me think Sushi Doku would be a good place to compare menus and prices before visiting when looking for sushi in Songdo. :)

That day, more than anything, I just wanted to eat something delicious. 💚 I did not want to open the fridge and wonder what to make, and thinking about washing up afterward makes it even more tiresome.;; At times like that, meeting a friend and having a warm meal helps lift my mood a little.!!! :) It was especially nice because we had sushi that day. It disappears so quickly as you eat each piece, which is a little sad, but maybe that is why it tastes even better. 👍

Set components and receipt-review sushi

Sushi Doku has everything from a basic sushi set to the Premium Sushi Special Set and Deluxe Sushi Set, so it is easy to choose according to your budget. If you love salmon, you can choose the Salmon Sushi Set or Salmon Sashimi, while Assorted Sashimi could be nice for a group. There is also a Hearty Kids’ Set if you come with children, so choosing a menu for a family meal looks easy too.

This time I came with a friend and had the 10-piece Premium Sushi Special Set, but I would like to try other menu items next time too.

• 10-piece Premium Sushi Special Set: flounder, red sea bream, salmon, ika (squid), northern pink shrimp, akami (lean tuna), red shrimp, red crab meat, eel, ankimo (monkfish liver)
• Half udon, fried dishes, salad, and truffle chawanmushi (Japanese steamed egg custard)

The chicken and fried shrimp were so delicious eaten right away, and I was surprised by how tender they were too! :) 👀 I think I could eat 10 more.. haha

And this was the honmaguro (bluefin tuna) sushi we received for a receipt review...! 🍣 It melted gently in my mouth... gone in one bite... I thought sushi lovers might fall for Sushi Doku at first sight if they eat here. I truly had such a delicious meal. :)

On the way out, I picked up some mouthwash and floss... haha If you love sushi! If you need a meal at Onesta or Songhyeon-a! Sushi Doku will be a choice you will not regret. ???? 💚 I give it five stars! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
