Where to eat udon late at night near Seokchon Lake

Today I visited 'Haengbokhan Udon Gage,' a great spot for a simple meal near Seokchon Lake! I'd passed by a few times and noticed it's open 24 hours. Wondering what to eat late at night, it came to mind, so I went. I love udon so much ❤︎

Exterior with a sign noting 24-hour operation

It's open 24 hours and apparently every menu item is available for takeout too. The exterior looked clean and new, like it hadn't been open long. They also sell pajeon (scallion pancake) and makgeolli (rice wine)! Seems like a good spot to visit on a rainy evening.

Outdoor tables set up in front of the restaurant

Outdoor tables out front at 11:30 pm on a weeknight

Haengbokhan Udon Gage Seokchon Lake Branch has outdoor tables set up in front of the shop like this. Looks great for enjoying a drink together on a nice day! The weather's been clear and cool lately, so I'm planning to go back soon to enjoy the outdoor seating haha.

Even visiting late on a weeknight around 11:30 pm, more than half the seats were filled with customers. There were a lot of people eating alone, and a lot of people drinking too.

Interior with customers late at night
Clean seating inside the restaurant

This is the inside of the restaurant. I only photographed part of it, but it was actually more spacious and comfortable than this.

On one side hangs a menu board you can see at a glance. There are meal items and drinking-snack items too!

Tablet ordering screen at the table

You order directly from a tablet at your seat. There was also a Naver review event running. Next time I'll have to try the honey tomato!

Menu board listing udon, soba, and rice bowls

Here's the menu. Besides udon there were various options like soba, pork cutlet, rice bowls, and mandu (dumplings), pajeon, and more. Since we came for a proper meal, we ordered spicy pepper udon + squid rice bowl + cola! = ₩21,000

If you want extra sides, you help yourself. It looked well-kept and clean, so I ate with peace of mind.

How spicy is the pepper udon?

The dishes we ordered arrived. Doesn't it look delicious? This was right after I got back from a Shanghai trip, so I was really, really craving something spicy. (Shanghai food is all delicious, but a bit greasy.)

This is the spicy pepper udon. I ordered it expecting it to be spicy, but it's not fiery red-hot at all. There's a bit of dadaegi (chili paste) mixed in, and the chili aroma is what gives it a kick. For someone like me who can't handle spicy food well, it had just the right amount of sharpness — perfect! I kept scooping up the broth and it completely cut through the greasy feeling in my stomach. The noodles weren't soggy either, nice and chewy and springy. It was also loaded with crown daisy greens and fried tofu!

What the squid rice bowl is like

Next is the squid rice bowl. We ordered this to fill up properly, and I was surprised by how generous the squid portion was — more than I expected. This was also slightly spicy and delicious! They also had a whole shrimp rice bowl, so I'll have to try that next time.

Bathroom located inside the restaurant

Restrooms and the verdict on Haengbokhan Udon Gage

The bathroom is also located inside the restaurant. Even if a place is clean, if the bathroom is outside the building or dirty, I tend to avoid visiting — that's just me. This place satisfied on taste, cleanliness, and friendliness all at once. If you're eating late at night around Jamsil and Songpa, craving udon, or want to enjoy the outdoor seating on a nice day, you should definitely check this place out ︎❤︎

'Haengbokhan Udon Gage,' located near Seokchon Lake, operates 24 hours a day, year-round, so it's easy to stop by anytime without pressure. In particular, the outdoor seating out front has such a nice atmosphere, and it's a truly great spot to enjoy a cool breeze with a light drink on a cool day!! Not only does it boast a clean, comfortable interior, but it also has a solid lineup from hearty meals to a variety of appetizing drinking snacks, making it a reliable place for a late-night bite or a comfortable solo meal!
