Yeouido Station izakaya full by 6pm: spicy seafood yakiudon at Nani

Here's my review of Nani, a bar near Yeouido Station that I hit up after work during my last Seoul business trip. It was seriously so hot out that I just wanted a cold draft beer. I went looking for somewhere I could get dinner and good draft beer together, and that's how I ended up at Nani Yeouido Branch. From the lamb rack to the spicy seafood yakiudon, everything satisfied at this izakaya.

Nani Yeouido Branch is located in the S-TRENUE building near Yeouido Station. You can see the building right as you come out of Exit 3, so it's really accessible. A lot of office workers from the area seem to come here. I visited around 6pm on a weekday too, and by the time we'd ordered and started on the starters, the place was already fully booked — can you believe that?

Take the escalator or elevator up to the 3rd floor and Nani's entrance is right there.

What's on the menu at Nani izakaya?

The menu was pretty diverse — sashimi, grilled dishes, single-plate meals, fried items, stir-fries, even nabe (hot pot). I was starving after work and while deciding what to get, my friend and I both spotted the lamb shoulder rack in the recommended section and instantly said 'this one!' Since I'm a spice lover, I also ordered the karai (spicy) seafood yakiudon. And of course, two glasses of Asahi draft🍻. The drink list was varied too, from highballs to sake.

The tables were divided by partitions, which was nice. There were also private rooms on one side if you wanted more privacy.

They brought the draft beer out first. Even though I'd only walked a bit on my way from work, the weather was brutal, so it was so hot out. As soon as the beer arrived I drank it right away — pure happiness🍺.

The complimentary starters were seasoned seaweed stem salad and hardtack crackers.

How does the karai seafood yakiudon taste?

The seafood yakiudon arrived. The second it hit the table, the seasoning smell wafted up and I knew right away it'd be good — the thick, chewy udon noodles were soaked all the way through with sauce and tasted great.

The seafood was piled on generously too.

Loaded with plump seafood from shrimp to squid, the seafood yakiudon had just the right amount of spice and umami that kept me coming back for more. The vegetables were generous too.

Nani's signature lamb shoulder rack

This is Nani's signature lamb shoulder rack. It arrives sizzling on a hot plate. The moment it hit the table, we both said the smell was insane — now we get why it's the signature dish😊.

It came with basil sauce and cumin sauce on the side, plus pickled peppers, which were great to snack on between bites.

Can you see how thick the lamb cuts are? They were grilled to a perfect golden brown, and honestly the smell of the lamb alone was addictive😋.

It was practically glistening with a glossy sheen.

I cut it open with scissors. Can you tell how thick the meat is from the cross-section? They also gave us a basil sauce I hadn't really had elsewhere, which had its own charm. I tried the lamb plain, without any sauce, and it had zero gamey smell, just pure juiciness and flavor — so good. This place really is a lamb rack specialist. Seriously, again!

We'd both been so hungry when ordering that I worried the portions might be small, but the lamb rack turned out to be surprisingly generous. The seafood yakiudon was also a big portion, so we left completely full.

Is Nani Yeouido Branch worth a visit?

Being on a slightly higher floor gave this Yeouido Station bar a nice view, and having partitions between every table made it feel separated from the other tables, which I liked. Everything we ordered was delicious, and looking around, the neighboring tables were all ordering a variety of dishes and adding more as they went. Still, make sure to order the lamb shoulder rack — dipping it in the basil sauce was especially good. If you're looking for a bar near Yeouido Station, give Nani a try.
