With the summer heat finally fading and a pleasant autumn breeze blowing in on a weekend evening, I got to spend some quality time with old friends.

After a satisfying first round, we weren't ready to say goodbye yet, so we headed to the Samsan Wangsaeng-ro strip in search of a Samsan-dong bar for a cool beer as our second round.

Arriving at the entrance, we were greeted by the izakaya's signature soft, warm orange sign.

The wide floor-to-ceiling window across the front was fully opened, giving it a great open-air feel, almost like drinking on a breezy outdoor terrace.

The inside was buzzing with weekend night energy. It seemed to be a popular spot for young couples on dates as well as friends looking for a laid-back drinking session.

The interior lighting was kept slightly dim yet moody, which upped the atmosphere for a night out.

Luckily, we found seats still open and sat down happily.

As soon as we sat down, the table setting caught our eye. The tableware and coasters were so cute and well-designed that it put us in a good mood right away.

It was also fun waiting for the menu while snacking on the tangy basic cabbage pickle and crackers served in adorable little dishes.

First came the neatly plated 5 kinds of kushikatsu.

They were cut into easy bite-sized pieces with tongs and scissors, and we dug in.

The crispy batter and texture held up really well, making for a very satisfying beer snack.

Black pepper tebasaki: sweet, crisp fried chicken wings with a peppery kick

Next up was the black pepper tebasaki, arriving with a stunning 12 pieces neatly packed onto the plate — a striking sight from the start.

The crispy fried chicken wings were coated in a sweet, savory sauce with a peppery kick from the black pepper — addictively good.

It was a bit different from the original version I've had in Japan, but it was tuned to Korean tastes in a way that made it easy for anyone to enjoy without complaint.

Ice draft beer, cold to the last sip

The ice draft beer, topped with fine slush ice for maximum chill, paired perfectly with the fried snacks.

Clinking glasses with friends in the cool autumn breeze, I felt a small, simple happiness — nothing to envy in that moment. 😁

Is Sut Tori Ulsan Samsan Branch worth it? Final verdict
