The weather's gotten cooler lately, so I wanted to relax at a café — and that's how I ended up at Baegya Coffee, an ocean-view café in Gangneung. There are so many pretty cafés in Gangneung that I'm always torn on where to go, but Baegya Coffee sits right in front of Sageunjin Beach, so you can see the sea before you even step inside. Best of all, the café is pretty spacious so it was comfortable to sit and relax, and it had a nice variety of coffee and bread — a solid Gangneung café.
Where is Baegya Coffee, and is there parking?

Parking is always a worry at beachside cafés in Gangneung, but Baegya Coffee has a spacious dedicated lot, so I could just pull in and walk right inside.

Once inside the building, there's an elevator, which made it easy to get up to the higher floors or the rooftop. It looked like a great option for coming with elderly parents or kids too.

There's even a tray holder inside the elevator to set your tray on — such a thoughtful touch.
Seating on each floor and the panoramic ocean view

Each floor has a slightly different vibe, and thanks to the café's large size, there's plenty of seating variety — good for sitting alone with a quiet coffee, but I also saw lots of groups and families visiting. Wherever you sit, you get a panoramic ocean view, and the window seats especially seemed popular.
Baegya Coffee's biggest draw is definitely that wide-open ocean view — there's seating on the outdoor terrace on each floor as well as on the rooftop, making it a great place to soak in the sea in spring or fall.

The Baegya Coffee rooftop: best seat in cool weather
This rooftop is exactly the spot you need to visit in weather like this! Sitting and looking out at Sageunjin Beach with the breeze blowing gently on a cool day like this was just wonderful. It was so nice to spend some relaxed time with the cool sea breeze on my face.
Baegya Coffee menu and prices, plus the 3 bean choices

You can choose your beans from three types: fruity/acidic, nutty, or decaf.

There's a pretty wide range of items, from coffee to bakery goods. Even though it's a tourist-spot ocean-view café, the prices were reasonable, so it was easy to order without worrying about the cost.
What we ordered: Americano, egg tart and garlic cream bread

Americano, egg tart, garlic cream bread. The Americano wasn't overly acidic, and it had a clean taste that pretty much anyone could enjoy comfortably — the perfect match to pair with dessert. The egg tart was moist with a soft, generous filling. It wasn't too sweet, with a mild, plain flavor. The garlic cream bread had a subtle garlic aroma spreading through it, and it was packed with soft cream inside. Eating it together with the Americano was just the right combo.
Is Baegya Coffee worth a stop in Gangneung?
Baegya Coffee has a stunning ocean view, but what really stood out was how well-equipped it is as a Gangneung ocean-view café — with its own parking lot, elevator, and other conveniences. In weather like this, perfect for sitting on the terrace, it's a great place to relax on the rooftop while taking in the sea. If you want to enjoy an open ocean view along with delicious baked goods without the hassle in Gangneung, I recommend stopping by Baegya Coffee ꔛ♡
