Haeundae restaurant, truffle cream gnocchi and lasagna: Bueokgan

Went looking for a good-vibe Western restaurant on Dalmaji-gil in Busan and ended up at Bueokgan.

Dalmaji-gil has so many pretty cafes that I'm always debating where to actually eat a meal, but this time the atmosphere and menu lineup both won me over.

Bottom line up front: great for a date, and also fine for a family meal with kids!

What is Bueokgan Haeundae Branch like — a date spot or a family restaurant?

Bueokgan Haeundae Branch is a Western restaurant tucked into the 2nd floor along Dalmaji-gil, and when I visited there were actually quite a few families with kids. The space isn't too quiet or formal — it felt comfortable to eat in.

That said, it's not purely casual either — it matched Dalmaji-gil's relaxed feel and made for pretty photos too.

When I'm hunting for good restaurants on Dalmaji-gil in Busan, taste matters, but I also pay attention to the space itself, and Bueokgan won me over the moment I walked in. It felt date-worthy but also comfortable enough with families around that it seemed like a no-pressure choice for a family visit. We ordered three dishes: lasagna, truffle mushroom cream gnocchi, and jambon pizza.

Lasagna, 21,000 won: the favourite of the three dishes

First up, Bueokgan's lasagna at ₩21,000. It's made with house-simmered ragu sauce topped with cheese and eggplant, and it was my favorite of the three.

The ragu sauce is rich and there's plenty of cheese, so the flavor really came alive on the first bite. The eggplant kept it from feeling too heavy, and it tasted even better while still hot.

If it's your first visit to Bueokgan, I'd recommend starting with the lasagna!

Truffle mushroom cream gnocchi, 22,000 won: thick, rich cream sauce

The truffle mushroom cream gnocchi is ₩22,000. It's loaded with a variety of mushrooms and has a subtle truffle aroma coming through the cream.

The sauce is thick and savory, so if you're into cream sauces, this should satisfy. The chewy gnocchi paired with roasted mushrooms gave it nice texture too, and the plating was pretty enough for photos.

It's a different kind of richness than the lasagna, so ordering both didn't feel repetitive at all.

Jambon pizza, 24,000 won: sweet-salty honey and pistachio

Last was the jambon pizza at ₩24,000. It's topped with honey and pistachio over jambon for a sweet-and-salty pizza, and the honey worked with the salty jambon better than I expected.

Since the lasagna and gnocchi were both on the heavier side, having pizza in the mix worked well as a break in between. With all three dishes laid out together, the table looked great too — perfect for a group ordering a variety of dishes to share.

How many people to bring to Bueokgan Haeundae, and what to order

Personally, I'd recommend going with 3-4 people rather than 2 so you can try several dishes! What I liked most about Bueokgan wasn't just the food but especially the atmosphere.

It's pretty enough for a couple's date, but families with kids were eating there naturally too, so it also seems like a solid option when looking for a family restaurant in Busan.

Pairing a meal here with a nearby cafe on Dalmaji-gil makes for a perfect day-trip course.

If you're looking for a good restaurant on Dalmaji-gil in Busan, Bueokgan is worth saving. I'd recommend it if you want to enjoy pizza, gnocchi, and lasagna in a nice atmosphere all at once — and I think I'd order the lasagna again next time.
