Daegu Korean restaurant for bossam and pork cuts: Uldong Bossam
In short
Uldong Bossam is a Korean restaurant on Gyeongsanggamyeong-gil in Jung-gu, Daegu, with counter seats and single-person menus. I shared a small bossam serving of hangjeongsal and samgyeopsal with one other person and ordered potato pancake; the freshly ground sesame-soy sauce and crisp cheese topping stood out.

I went to nearby Uldong Bossam after spending time around Dongseong-ro. This time, two of us shared the small bossam serving, but I also noticed the solo counter seats in front of the kitchen and the single-person menus.

Where is Uldong Bossam, and where did I park?
The address is 279 Gyeongsanggamyeong-gil, Jung-gu, Daegu, 1st floor. I usually use the Gukchaebosang Undong Memorial Park parking lot when I visit Dongseong-ro, so this time I stopped by while looking for somewhere to eat nearby.

The hours listed in the original post are 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., with a break from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m.
Are there seats and menus for solo diners?
The interior was decorated in warm wood tones, giving it a warm and clean impression.

There was a counter-style seating area for solo diners in front of the kitchen. It looked comfortable even for someone eating alone.

I also noticed that the bossam restaurant had single-person menu options. I did not visit during a weekday lunch, so I could not confirm how busy it gets at that time.

What can groups share, and what drinks are available?
The bossam dishes, listed under anju, looked suitable for two to four people to share. They could also be shared as a meal without alcohol, and minari pancake and potato pancake were available as sides.

It was a little unusual to see liquor sold at a bossam restaurant. Bottles were also displayed in the middle of the restaurant.

There was also maesil-cha (plum tea), which I tried. It was sweet enough that I did not feel I needed another drink.

How much was the small bossam for two, and what came with it?
Several banchan, including greens, were served first, along with ssamjang, salted shrimp, garlic, and leafy ssam vegetables. Doenjang-jjigae (soybean paste stew) also arrived bubbling hot. What especially stayed with me was the way we ground the sesame in a small mortar and added the soy sauce from the table to make our own dipping sauce.

The small Uldong Bossam serving we ordered cost ₩29,000. I felt there was quite a lot of meat, and it came with spicy shredded radish salad.

The bossam came with both hangjeongsal and samgyeopsal. The balance of lean meat and fat suited my taste. For two people, you can either share one plate of bossam as we did or order a single-person menu each.

What went well with the bossam?
At first, I dipped the meat into the soy sauce mixed with freshly ground sesame. It was my first time eating suyuk (boiled pork) dipped in soy sauce, and it went well with the nutty aroma of the sesame. The separately served spicy shredded radish salad was also good with the meat.

We also added a bowl of rice and ate the bossam over it.

We made different wraps with napa cabbage, perilla leaves, and lettuce, adding minari and garlic. The spicy sauce served alongside also went well with the bossam.

The doenjang-jjigae contained chadol (thinly sliced beef brisket). Its broth was rich and pleasantly spicy, which was another reason we added a bowl of rice.
How was the extra cheese potato pancake?
We also ordered one potato pancake. It was made by pan-frying shredded potatoes and came topped with a generous amount of cheese.

Ketchup and soy sauce came with it. The potato pancake was crisp and the cheese flavor was strong, so I thought ketchup paired better with it.

I also tried making a wrap with the potato pancake. Adding the spicy shredded radish salad balanced the flavor of the cheese-filled pancake.
