Stroller-friendly grilled fish dinner in Asan: Busan-e Tteun Godeungeo

I'm someone who really loves grilled fish — it's such a hassle to grill it at home, so I end up going out for it often. Miru caught a cold, and after taking her to the doctor near Tangjeong, I wanted to grab a meal with my mom nearby. Searching for grilled fish spots, I found a good one right by Tangjeong Station. I love mackerel more than anything, and it turns out Dalbiche Guun Godeungeo (moonlight-grilled mackerel) finally opened a branch in Asan too — so I went straight there.

Where is Busan-e Tteun Godeungeo, and where do you park?

Busan-e Tteun Godeungeo sits directly across from Tangjeong Station, so it's really easy to get to. I parked near the station, but apparently if you park inside that building, they give you a separate parking voucher — so I'd recommend parking in the building itself! We got there just a bit after 6pm, and customers started trickling in one by one.

It's been open for a while now, and I can see why people keep coming back — it's not just the grilled mackerel, the Korean side dishes are seriously good too. It's practically a Korean buffet with 15 all-you-can-eat side dishes, so if you love that home-cooked-meal vibe, this place will really satisfy you!

Is there room for a stroller and two kids?

Busan-e Tteun Godeungeo Asan Tangjeong Branch keeps its interior clean and well-run for a grilled fish restaurant. The dining room is spacious with wide gaps between tables, making it comfortable to eat here.

We came with two kids, and since the dining room was so spacious, I could just leave my second child sitting in the stroller during the meal — it was so convenient!

What we ordered: grilled mackerel for two plus one Korean set meal

I think grilled fish restaurants are one of the best places to visit with kids. My little one especially loves mackerel and hairtail. So there's really no need to think twice — I end up stopping by grilled fish restaurants a lot. As for the menu, most people probably order the standard grilled mackerel, but if you want a different fish, there's also atka mackerel, Spanish mackerel, and grilled hairtail. There's also a separate braised/stewed menu, so if you're craving something spicy and hearty, that's an option too. We ordered two servings of grilled mackerel and added one Korean set meal.

Since we came with a kid, they had kids' tableware too, so we could eat comfortably haha.

The self-serve bar: 15 side dishes with free refills, stir-fried pork included

What's especially great about this place is the self-serve bar. You can scoop up as many side dishes as you want, however much you like!

I was surprised by how varied the side dishes were. The price here is actually cheaper, yet the self-serve bar is even more varied! What's even better is that not a single one is over-seasoned — every dish is well made. I think this place would suit everyone's taste, young and old. The variety of side dishes really puts a Korean buffet to shame — this is a grilled fish restaurant on a whole other scale. And most of all, having stir-fried pork as one of the all-you-can-eat items at a self-serve bar is genuinely rare haha.

There's also a dessert corner, so you can enjoy a little something after the meal haha.

How the mackerel set meal and pot rice actually tasted

Here's the mackerel set meal, filling up the whole table. Since I ordered pot rice, it came out looking really substantial too haha.

And look at that hefty mackerel~~ that's a proper serving, right? The grilled fish size here is honestly much more generous than other places. And what's even more amazing is that the fat, meaty mackerel is fresh too.

For the pot rice, they pour water over the crispy rice at the bottom to make nurungji (scorched rice tea/porridge) — and it's so moist and soft! I could tell right away this was top-notch freshness. The mackerel's size and taste were both so good that my mom and I kept raving about it. My baby ate the mackerel really well too.

Is the stir-fried pork from the all-you-can-eat corner really just a side dish? It's so delicious it disappears in no time. Looking at other tables, people were basically eating the stir-fried pork and rolled egg like they were the main dish haha.

The seaweed soup was mildly seasoned too, just right for a kid to eat. My baby was so into this soup that she had it three or four times.

The side dishes brought from the self-serve bar were all really good — genuinely a passing grade. I liked that none of them were over-seasoned. You could really feel the care put into the home-style side dishes. Even the nurungji was chewy and nutty, and I enjoyed it a lot.

Would we go back to Busan-e Tteun Godeungeo?

We added an ice cream from the dessert corner too~ Such a delicious meal overall. I've never seen an all-you-can-eat mackerel set meal in Tangjeong this good. I think I'll have to come back with my husband and kid. This feels like a spot in Tangjeong I'll visit again and again — I highly recommend Busan-e Tteun Godeungeo for grilled fish.
