Suwon fish restaurant eel and flounder set: Hwadeogeuro Gan Godeungeo
In short
Hwadeogeuro Gan Godeungeo Suwon KT Wiz Park Branch is a wood-fired grilled fish restaurant in Jangan-gu, Suwon, Gyeonggi. Three of us, including a child, ordered the boyang (nourishing) set for two and got eel, flounder, mackerel and braised mackerel on one table, and the portions were generous enough to leave everyone full. With a self-serve bar, baby chairs and after-meal drinks, Hwadeogeuro Gan Godeungeo was an easy choice for a family meal out.

Where is Hwadeogeuro Gan Godeungeo Suwon KT Wiz Park Branch?
Hwadeogeuro Gan Godeungeo Suwon KT Wiz Park Branch is on the 2nd floor at 229 Suil-ro, Jangan-gu, Suwon-si, Gyeonggi-do. Business hours are Mon–Sun 11:00–21:00, last order at 20:20. Baby chair: available ⭕️, parking: available ⭕️.
Today we went to a fish restaurant that both our kid and my husband love! If you grill fish at home, the smell fills the whole house, right? Even after eating, the smell seems to linger for a while, so I prefer eating fish outside! So today we treated ourselves to an easy meal out!

Parking and the second-floor entrance
The parking entrance is on the side of the building! The parking space isn't very generous, so depending on when you visit, spots might be scarce, ㅜㅜ

You have to go up to the 2nd floor, but the entrance is easy to spot right away! However, since there's no elevator in the building, those using strollers or wheelchairs should keep that in mind beforehand!

Inside Hwadeogeuro Gan Godeungeo: atmosphere and side dishes
The interior was so clean! When you think of a grilled fish restaurant, you might imagine a cozy spot with tables squeezed together, but this place felt clean and spacious overall. There were plenty of tables too, and I saw a lot of families dining there — it seemed like a good spot for group meals!

Once we sat down, they set out the basic side dishes! Deodeok muchim (seasoned bellflower root), squid jeotgal (salted squid), chonggak kimchi (ponytail radish kimchi), crab muchim, and asari-i gochu muchim (seasoned mini peppers)! Warm miyeokguk (seaweed soup) came out too! At a Korean restaurant like this, the side dishes matter just as much as the main menu, right? With so much variety, it was fun picking and choosing haha

Which menu to order when you're dining with a child
We sat down and checked out the menu! There are basic grilled fish set meals available, and you can also order additional fish of your choice! There were so many kinds of fish it was hard to decide, but for those like us dining with kids, I'd recommend the set menu!

This was the menu that caught my eye most at Hwadeogeuro Gan Godeungeo. I wondered, would it be enough for three of us including our kid? But the portion turned out to be quite generous! Ordering the set was better than ordering several menu items separately!

What's on the self-serve bar?
At the self-serve bar, besides the basic side dishes served at the table, there was japchae, fried items, and wrap vegetables! Various namul and gochujang were also ready so you could make your own bibimbap! When eating out with a kid, you usually have to bring along all sorts of extras, so having a self-serve bar meant we could just grab what we needed easily — I loved that!

After finishing the meal, you can also have coffee, plum tea, and iced tea! Rather than just leaving right after eating, it was nice to be able to cleanse the palate and wrap things up properly!

The boyang set for two: eel, flounder, mackerel and braised mackerel
The boyang set for two arrived! Eel, flounder, mackerel, and braised mackerel all came out at once! I worried the set for two might not be enough, but we ended up plenty full, and with so many different kinds, there was fun in picking and choosing what to eat haha
The mackerel had a familiar taste, so it was good to eat with our kid, and the flounder was mild and went well with rice! Having eel included too meant we got to try a fish we don't often eat at home. Best of all, rather than ordering just one dish, being able to taste a little of several kinds meant everyone in the family could pick according to their taste. Our kid ate the rice and fish flesh well too, which made me proud as a mom haha
Is Hwadeogeuro Gan Godeungeo good for a family meal?
Grilled fish is something adults love too, but it's also a relatively easy dish to share with kids, and cleaning the frying pan and kitchen afterward is such a hassle, right ㅜㅜ With a baby chair available and a filling rice meal, this seems like a great place for a family meal out! If you're looking for a good grilled fish spot nearby, or searching for grilled fish in Jowon-dong, I recommend it!
