Truffle egg custard and white wine fire show at Raviok, Yeoksam
In short
Raviok Yeoksam Main Branch is an LA galbi (grilled short rib) restaurant near Yeoksam Station in Gangnam, Seoul, that only uses ribs 7, 8, and 9. Visiting right at the 11:30am opening, the writer ordered two servings of grilled ribs, one of marinated ribs, and truffle egg custard, watching the owner trim the meat tableside before dousing it in white wine and setting it alight. The ribs come pre-seared so there's little worry about smoky clothes, and the egg custard turned out to be a combo that would've been a real regret to skip.

Looking for an upscale LA galbi spot near Yeoksam Station?

Hey everyone! A little while ago, my friend and I were craving really good meat near Yeoksam Station, so after a lot of searching, we ended up here!

The restaurant's name is Raviok, and I was curious what it meant — turns out it comes from the 'LA' of LA galbi and the '비' (bi) of galbi (ribs). The name itself is clever and cute, so I went in with high expectations.

How close is it to Yeoksam Station, and is there parking?
It's super close to Yeoksam Station, so accessibility is great, and even though it's right in the heart of Gangnam, there's space for about 4 cars near the building's rear entrance, so it was really convenient to drive there too!
We walked in right at the 11:30am opening time. As soon as they opened, that clean, savory charcoal smell hit me and made me even hungrier. Haha

Neat side dishes and the fire-show visuals of the grilled ribs

We ordered the signature grilled ribs (2 servings), the marinated ribs (1 serving), and the truffle egg custard, which we heard was a must-try!

Right after we ordered, they set out the side dishes, and the spread was seriously generous.

From the deeply savory green onion kimchi to the creamy, nutty potato salad and the fresh house salad, everything was arranged so neatly and prettily that it felt like being pampered. The owner was so kind too, telling us to just ask if we needed more of anything.

Pre-seared, so there's little worry about your clothes smelling like smoke
The grilled ribs came out first! One great thing here is that the meat is pre-seared in the kitchen first, so there's less worry about your clothes absorbing the smell, and it's so easy to eat.
Plus, the owner personally and carefully trims the meat right at the table, and he told us they only use the top-tier ribs 7, 8, and 9 — the ones with the best marbling and the most flavorful fat among LA galbi cuts!

Maybe that's why — with just a light touch of scissors, the meat slid cleanly away from the bone, and it was satisfying just to watch.
What about the white wine fire show?
The highlight was the fire show that unfolded right after the trimming! He lightly splashed white wine over the meat and lit it, letting the high heat sear the surface moist and even.
The subtle scent of wine soaked in, wiping out any gamey smell, and with a crisp outside and juicy inside, the first bite had me marveling at the savory flavor!
3-day aged marinated ribs that melt in your mouth

Just as I was still marveling at how savory the grilled ribs were, we got to try the marinated ribs! They explained that the marinated ribs go through a careful 3-day aging process before reaching the table.

The moment it hit my mouth, it was so tender it practically dissolved before even touching my teeth — the texture was a work of art!

The marinade wasn't too sweet or sharp — a subtle but deep sweet-and-salty flavor soaked all the way into the meat, so I never got tired of it and kept reaching for more.

If the grilled ribs are clean and savory, the marinated ribs are the definition of umami — it was so hard to pick just one that you really have to try both!

Truffle aroma explosion: pudding-like truffle egg custard
And the truffle egg custard we ordered as a side would've been a lifelong regret to skip! The fluffy egg custard in the stone pot was generously topped with a rich truffle aroma and a shiitake mushroom sauce with a satisfying chew.

You could tell, just by looking and tasting, that the owner hadn't skimped on ingredients at all.

The egg itself was so smooth it went down like pudding or chawanmushi, and the rich, distinctive truffle flavor blended beautifully with the egg's nuttiness — a perfect pairing with the meat!
Looking around, I noticed other tables were also ordering this egg custard together with the refreshing icy acorn jelly as a must-have combo.
