Seongsu café evening with cream cheese matcha and fig soufflé: 5to7

Hi, it's Deokgu! Today I'm introducing a café near Seoul Forest that's full of atmosphere with really tasty desserts haha. It's Seongsu café 5to7, famous for its soufflé and even featured on TV. My expectations were already high before I even walked in, hoho. Shall we go?

5to7 Seongsu Main Branch is a soufflé pancake café on Seoulsup 2-gil in Seongdong-gu, Seoul, open Monday through Sunday 12:00–21:00 with last order at 20:30. By public transit, it's a 5-minute walk from Seoul Forest Station Exit 5, or a 10-minute walk from Ttukseom Station Exit 8.

A converted house on Seoulsup 2-gil, up the stairs

I visited in the evening. 5to7 Seongsu Main Branch is apparently housed in a converted residential building! They kept the structure while adding café-like interior touches, so the exterior already felt great.

Under the road sign, the stylish font spelling out '5 to 7' and the standing signboard both have so much character. You go up through the stairs to get in.

Since it's a converted house, the stairs have that brick-and-stone-embedded feel, you know what I mean? My own studio is also a house, so why doesn't it look like this, ㅠ. There's a bit of a slope, so watch your step!

Inside a Seongsu large café: taking a second-floor seat

The interior of 5to7 Seongsu Main Branch is really spacious! This must count as one of Seongsu's large cafés, right? The ordering counter has that island-bar feel.

They told me to grab a seat first, so I looked around the place a bit. And wow, the space was so pretty!

Above all, the lighting was really cozy and atmospheric. Warm-toned lighting spread softly through the whole space, and the mood was excellent.

If you love taking photos and exploring pretty cafés, you have to come here. The space is just so pretty!

Inside there are the 2nd and 3rd floors plus a terrace, so seating feels roomy, and each floor has a different vibe too — that's a nice touch.

After much deliberation I settled on the 2nd floor, hehe. Now let's head back down to order.

What we ordered at 5to7: fresh fig soufflé, cream cheese matcha, Dutch americano

5to7's signature item is apparently the soufflé pancake. I kept agonizing over the choice and let other customers go ahead of me in line kkk.

After all that deliberation, here's what I finally picked — three things~

While waiting, I noticed this place has been featured on the TV show Saturday Is Good. Apparently it's shown up on several other shows too~~

How soft is the fresh fig soufflé at 5to7?

Let's start with the main dish, right? This is 5to7 Seongsu Main Branch's fresh fig soufflé. A fluffy soufflé pancake topped with cream and fresh figs — visually stunning, honestly.

I scooped a bite out — wow, can you all see this? That fluffiness! It's literally the word 'fluffy' come to life kkk. Once you dig in with your own spoon, you'll get it immediately.

The soufflé itself was soooo soft. The cream was so tasty too~~ and with the figs piled on top, it'd be a real loss not to eat it all. I scraped the plate clean — you might not need to wash it after.

How do the cream cheese matcha and Dutch americano taste?

Next up is the cream cheese matcha I ordered. I agonized hard between cream cheese strawberry and this, and went with matcha! First off, the cream cheese was wonderfully chewy. Adding the slightly bitter matcha on top worked really well. A bitter-and-savory combo? Good! Now I want to try the cream cheese strawberry next time.

The Dutch americano had a smooth, rich aroma I loved. Its cleanness paired perfectly with the soufflé. I guess there's a reason people always say americano goes with dessert, hoho. Saving this as a Seongsu dessert spot, noted.

Is 5to7 Seongsu Main Branch good for a Seongsu date?

We ended up chatting for a long time and even doing some laptop web surfing in the comfortable, atmospheric space before finally stepping out. 5to7, the Seongsu café with so many strengths — delicious soufflé and a spacious layout — is great for anyone looking for a large Seongsu café. With cozy lighting and interior full of character, I highly recommend it as a date spot too.

It was 5 to 7, a café with such good vibes that picking what to order takes longer than taking a pretty photo, because everything looks good. With the weather getting nicer these days, it also seems like a great stop before or after a walk in Seoul Forest.
