Cheonan BBQ restaurant: 3-person set for two at Sampyeong Sikdang
In short
Sampyeong Sikdang Cheonan Sinbu Branch is a retro frozen pork belly BBQ restaurant on Meokgeori 9-gil in Sinbu-dong, near Cheonan Terminal. Two diners ordered the 45,000 won 3-person set — frozen pork belly for three, a small dirty steamed egg and one side, with doenjang sulbap (soybean-paste rice soup) chosen — and paid 48,000 won in total with a bowl of rice and a cola. Staff at Sampyeong Sikdang grilled the first round and refilled the banchan unprompted, so both the portion and the service were more than enough for two.

Finding the restaurant: the red frozen pork belly sign in Sinbu-dong

There's a retro frozen-pork-belly vibe to the place. The red sign is easy to spot from a distance, so you can find it at a glance ❗ On Fridays, weekends and holidays, the evening hours get really busy, so they've set up a row of waiting chairs 🪑 outside.
Inside Sampyeong Sikdang: retro like a grandmother's house

Old clocks, records, posters — the retro decor gives you a really comfortable feeling. It's clearly decorated to make you feel like you've stopped by your grandmother's house, and that's exactly what I felt 👵🏻🤍 Seating ranges from standard 4-person tables up to group seating 👏🏻
Menu prices and the banchan that come free

➖As you'd expect from a frozen pork belly place, there's the basic pork neck and belly (150g) for ₩11,500, ➖and they also sell Sampyeong Samhap (octopus + shrimp + pork + vegetable mix) for ₩33,000–43,000!! (I'm planning to try the samhap next time 😊)
What two people ordered and what it cost
I love a set menu, so I ordered the set!
- 3-person set (recommended for couples, 2–3 people!): frozen pork belly x3 + small dirty egg steam + choice of 1 side (chose doenjang sulbap) — ₩45,000
- Extra rice — ₩1,000
- Extra cola — ₩2,000
- Total: ₩48,000

Order 3 highballs and get 1 free 👍🏻 Sounds great for next time when I come with friends and drink highballs 🍹 Partway through, the owner cracked a joke — "Even if your partner's changed, I'll pretend not to notice" haha — right up my alley

Not regular cold water — they serve barley tea. Pass with flying colors.

A wide variety of basic side dishes come out -! Served on a tray piled high like at grandma's, full of banchan that go perfectly with the pork belly. The kimchi is made from domestic aged kimchi 🫢
The 45,000 won 3-person set, with rice and cola

The pork belly looked gorgeous and, despite being frozen pork belly, wasn't overly greasy — just the right amount of fat, which I loved

A staff member came and grilled the first batch of meat for us. Whenever a side dish ran low, staff brought a refill without being asked 💁🏻♀️
At Sampyeong Sikdang, staff bring over any side dishes or extras you need themselves, so you don't have to get up to refill anything — they take care of it quickly. Above all, they were kind, which made for a really comfortable meal. No awkwardness when asking for a refill — I was touched by how thoughtful the service was ෆ

After lining the meat up on the grill, they asked whether we wanted kimchi, minari (water dropwort), garlic scapes and garlic grilled alongside it, and I said yes yes!! Finally they asked about pepper and sprinkled it on generously themselves ( •̀ᴗ•́ )و ̑̑ (they were so kind and attentive, which I really appreciated)

Grilling everything together on one pan — kimchi, minari, all mixed in — is definitely my style 👍🏻
Is doenjang sulbap the side dish to choose?

Next came the doenjang sulbap (soybean-paste rice stew)!! I was surprised they served it on top of a thick comic book haha — never seen that kind of touch before 📚

They said the doenjang sulbap is made with a rich doenjang the restaurant simmers fresh every day, on a cheonggukjang (fermented soybean) base — it was really spicy-savory and genuinely delicious. Honestly the best doenjang jjigae I've had recently, No. 1

I highly recommend the doenjang sulbap at Sampyeong Sikdang ✨👍🏻

The dirty steamed egg included in the set
Next up, the dirty egg steam -!! A fluffy, puffed-up egg steam that everyone from kids to adults will enjoy, piled high with salty cheese 🧀✨ Cheese lovers will cry, it's so good 😋

The meat was cooking up nicely golden-brown, so I wrapped some in lettuce

There were plenty of side dishes and sauces to pair with the wrap, so you can mix and match to your taste. I went simple with just wasabi and green onion strips — no meaty smell at all, and it was so delicious 🫢

With 3 servings of meat, there was plenty for two of us and we kept refilling. Tip: don't forget to grind on the pepper ★
Is the 3-person set enough for two? Final verdict

After we finished eating and went to pay, they even gave us the trendy Vietnamese candy, xào cào, at the register 🍬 What a thoughtful owner, top marks
If you're looking for a great restaurant or frozen pork belly spot near Cheonan Terminal, I confidently recommend this one. Definitely order the set at "Sampyeong Sikdang" Cheonan Sinbu Branch 👍🏻 I've tried several BBQ places near Cheonan Terminal, but this one's satisfaction level was really high, so I plan to come back again 🍴
