Rainy-day budae-jjigae in Cheonan: extra beef brisket at Cheongwon
In short
Cheongwon Restaurant: Cooking Budae-jjigae, Cheonan Dujeong Main Branch is a budae-jjigae (army stew) restaurant in Dujeong-dong, Cheonan, serving two versions: Songtan-style and its own Cheongwon-style stew. On a rainy day, two servings of the Cheongwon budae-jjigae (12,000 won per person) came with an extra order of thin-sliced beef brisket, plus unlimited rice and ramyeon refills. The pot kept turning up more ingredients no matter how much was ladled out, and the broth was rich enough to make it a satisfying rainy-day meal.

It was drizzling outside, so all I wanted was a hot, warming soup dish haha. So today I went to try the spicy, hearty budae-jjigae (army stew) at Cheongwon Restaurant: Cooking Budae-jjigae, Cheonan Dujeong Main Branch — here's my detailed review 😉
Where is Cheongwon Restaurant in Dujeong-dong, Cheonan, and is there parking?
Cheongwon Restaurant: Cooking Budae-jjigae, Cheonan Dujeong Main Branch is a budae-jjigae spot located on a shopping street in Dujeong-dong, Cheonan. There's a parking space right in front of the restaurant, so it was easy to visit by car 😊

A must-visit budae-jjigae restaurant in Dujeong-dong: Cheongwon Restaurant Cheonan Dujeong branch

The interior was clean and pleasant overall, and the tables were spaced comfortably apart, which made for a good dining experience ✌🏻

Songtan budae-jjigae vs Cheongwon budae-jjigae: what's the difference?
Cheongwon Restaurant's main menu consists of two options: Songtan budae-jjigae and Cheongwon budae-jjigae 😎
- Songtan sticks to the basics — a classic flavor!
- Cheongwon has beef brisket and cheongyang chili peppers for a spicier kick!

You can also add various sarimyeon (extra add-ins) depending on your taste, so you can make it even more filling 😚

There are also tips for enjoying it at its best, so take note 😝

Self-serve banchan bar and unlimited rice and ramyeon at Cheongwon Restaurant
At the Cheonan Dujeong branch of Cheongwon Restaurant, the basic side dishes were bean sprouts, fish cake, and kimchi,

and you can grab extra from the self-serve corner 🖤 On top of that! Rice and ramyeon sarimyeon are unlimited refills!! (Rice lovers, this is happiness 😍)

This is the egg roll we got for taking part in the review event — definitely join in and eat this!! It was adorable to look at and delicious too 🥚💕

Cheongwon budae-jjigae for two with extra beef brisket
What we ordered was two servings of Cheongwon budae-jjigae (loaded with beef brisket + cheongyang chili = spicy!). Cheongwon budae-jjigae is ₩12,000 per person.

We also added extra beef brisket separately, so we got to enjoy a meat-packed, hearty meal 🍖🍖

Ham and beef brisket already come included as a base, so it seems like you could just pick and add whichever sarimyeon you like on top and still have plenty 😄
Once it's boiled enough, a staff member comes by to stir it for you now and then, so you can just relax and wait 😜

There was quite a lot of cheongyang chili in it, but the cheese sarimyeon was also mixed in, softening the spiciness nicely ❣️
With the budae-jjigae bubbling away deliciously and rain falling outside, I thought I'd really made the right menu choice today ☔️💜

How big is a two-person pot, and how does the broth taste?
Even though it was only two servings of Cheongwon budae-jjigae, the portion was seriously generous — no matter how many ladles I scooped out, more ingredients kept coming up 👍🏻👍🏻 Maybe because it was packed with so many kinds of sarimyeon, the broth was rich too❗️ and the refreshing flavor was outstanding‼️

The broth was so rich and delicious that it went even better with rice 🍚😆

Since rice was unlimited refills, I added one more bowl and ate that too 😝

The ham sarimyeon included as a base was also good quality, so I was very, very satisfied ❤️

I'd recommend the Cheongwon budae-jjigae, with beef brisket and cheongyang chili giving it an even heartier, richer flavor 👏🏻

Broth refill and round two with ramyeon noodles
Once you've finished the rice, there's no skipping ramyeon sarimyeon time 🍜

There's broth prepared at each table, so we could conveniently use it whenever needed 😉

Add more broth and drop in the ramyeon sarimyeon! I was clearly super full already… but here I am wanting more, that's just me 🙂↔️😏

The delicious broth paired so well with the ramyeon sarimyeon that we ended up scraping the pot clean 🤭👻

They're also running a takeout discount, so it seems like quite a few people were coming in just for takeout!? If you're planning to use it, keep that in mind 🖤

Hot budae-jjigae that tasted even better eaten on a rainy day! This has been my review of Cheongwon Restaurant Cheonan Dujeong branch, satisfying thanks to the generous portions and unlimited refills 😉
