Jokbal restaurant near Sunae Station with basement parking: Wangchang

In short

Wangchang Jokbal is a jokbal (braised pork trotter) restaurant on the first floor of the Daedeok Glory Building near Sunae Station in Bundang, Seongnam. On a weekend evening there was still plenty of room on basement parking floors B2–B3, and instead of the spicy half-and-half the order was the original jokbal, served with a side dish lineup of eori-guljeot (salted oysters in chili), seasoned chives and steamed egg. Wangchang Jokbal is worth recommending for a weekend family dinner with kids.

Weekend evening parking at Wangchang Jokbal: B2–B3 still had space

The Daedeok Glory Building where Wangchang Jokbal is located has parking spanning basement floors 2 to 3. Even on a weekend evening visit, the underground lot was fairly spacious, which made a comfortable first impression.

Driving somewhere for the first time always brings a bit of parking anxiety. Thankfully the entry ramp wasn't narrow either, so getting in was easy.

How to get from the basement garage up to Wangchang Jokbal

After parking and riding the elevator up, the walk to the restaurant can be a little confusing. Let me lay out the route so you don't wander. From the basement parking, take the elevator up, then head into the alley where you'll spot a convenience store. Pass the passage right next to the escalator and you'll see a door leading outside. Go through that door, walk a short way to the left, and you'll arrive right at the entrance of Wangchang Jokbal.

Walking into Wangchang Jokbal, I liked how clean and tidy the interior felt overall. The savory aroma of freshly boiled whole jokbal drifted gently through the space. The tables also made for a comfortable dining setup.

Side dishes set out after ordering

Once we sat down and ordered, a neat spread of side dishes was set out. And honestly, this place's side dishes had serious skill behind them, not just the main dish.😲

The eogulgeotjeok (spicy salted oysters) had savory seasoning with the freshness of the oysters still coming through, really waking up the appetite. The chive salad had a gentle sweetness and spice that lingered in the mouth and completely cut through the richness of the meat.

The steamed egg, soft and jiggly like pudding, was so easy to eat that even the kid finished every last bit without complaint.

Why the original jokbal beat the spicy half-and-half

At Wangchang Jokbal we ordered the original jokbal. I had originally been considering the half-and-half menu with spicy seasoning.🤔 But the staff kindly let us know the spicy jokbal is genuinely quite hot, so we decided on the original — better for the whole family to enjoy together.

A glossy plate of original jokbal

When the jokbal arrived, its glossy sheen caught my eye right away. Taking a bite, there was no gamey smell at all — tender meat with that satisfying chewy texture in the skin coming through clearly.

The meat alone was already savory, but topping it with a little of the eogulgeotjeok or chive salad turned out to be the real treat. The salty fermented seafood and sweet-spicy chives wove through the chewy meat grain, creating a combination that kept us reaching for more without ever getting tired of it.

Portion size and taking the leftovers home

The portion is generous. Our family still managed to finish it all, but if you end up with leftover jokbal, just ask staff to pack it up. They'll carefully include some salted shrimp and wrap it neatly for you.

Is Wangchang Jokbal worth it with kids?

Convenient parking, a pleasant dining room, and even the basic side dishes were solid — that's Wangchang Jokbal! If you're looking for jokbal near Sunae Station or a good jokbal spot elsewhere in Bundang to visit with kids, I'd recommend this as a filling, comfortable place to eat out. Consider Wangchang Jokbal for your next weekend meal!
