Mild-spice level 1 jjamppong and jjamppong mandu: Jjamppong Jijeon
In short
Jjamppong Jijeon Seooreung Branch is a jjajangmyeon (black bean noodle) and jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup) restaurant on Seooreung-ro in Goyang, Gyeonggi. The writer ordered jijeon jjajang, jijeon jjamppong at spice level 1 and 2, glutinous rice tangsuyuk, and jjamppong mandu, and even a spice wimp could enjoy the mild level since spiciness is adjustable across 5 stages. Whenever I ask my boyfriend what his favorite food is, he always says jjajangmyeon haha. We don't eat it often, but there's one place we always come back to whenever we do! [Jjamppong Jijeon Seooreung Branch] I really think nothing beats the jjajangmyeon and jjamppong here 🤭
Parking at Jjamppong Jijeon Seooreung — spacious even on weekends

I think the biggest perk of Seooreung restaurants is that parking is usually well set up. Even at a great restaurant, if there's no parking I often hesitate to drive there — but around Seooreung, whether it's a restaurant or a café, most places have generous parking, which is really nice! Jjamppong Jijeon Seooreung has large dedicated parking both in front of and beside the store, so even visiting on a weekend, I could park with no trouble at all!

Apparently Jjamppong Jijeon Seooreung Branch also offers a 10% discount for takeout ordered in person. The base prices are already reasonable, but if you live nearby or are visiting Seooreung to sightsee, you can eat even more cheaply by getting takeout!
5 spice levels — even a spice wimp can choose

This is the menu board at Jjamppong Jijeon Seooreung Branch. What's unusual is that both the jjajang and jjamppong carry the word "jijeon" (supreme) in their names, so at first I thought everything on the menu would be spicy — but it turns out you can choose from 5 spice levels! Even as a spice wimp, I was able to order the mild level 🔥
Interior atmosphere and seating

Isn't the interior super clean? You'd think a great Chinese restaurant would somehow be a bit worn and cluttered, but Jjamppong Jijeon Seooreung Branch was really spotless inside. Even with a busy crowd of customers, there were plenty of seats, so we got in without waiting! ✨
Five dishes we ordered

What we ordered was
- Jijeon jjajang
- Two jijeon jjamppong (level 1 & level 2)
- Glutinous rice tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork)
- Jjamppong mandu (dumplings)
These five dishes!
Whoever's good with spicy food ordered level 2 jjamppong, and one was ordered at the mild level — but even the mild level was deliciously spicy for a spice wimp like me. If you love spicy food, I bet levels 2 and 3 would be very enjoyable too haha.
Jijeon jjamppong — also great for hangovers

The jijeon jjamppong at Jjamppong Jijeon Seooreung Branch looked delicious just from the color. It's packed with vegetables so the broth has great flavor, and the noodles are so springy they slurp right up haha. Maybe because I'd been drinking the night before, but the jjamppong broth really hit the spot as a hangover cure! I've noticed quite a few people around here use spicy jjamppong for hangover recovery, and Jjamppong Jijeon Seooreung is perfect for exactly that!
Jijeon jjajang — jjajang with adjustable spice

My boyfriend's absolute favorite, jjajangmyeon! Not just the jjamppong — the jjajangmyeon here also lets you choose a spice level. I've seen a lot of people who like spicy food add red pepper powder to their jjajang themselves, but here you can adjust the spice level from the start, up to 5 stages, so everyone can eat it to their taste!

My boyfriend isn't great with spicy food either, so he ordered the mild level, and the sweet, savory jjajang sauce was truly delicious 😭 I love jjajang sauce in general and even make jjajang rice or jjajangmyeon at home sometimes, but honestly, jjajangmyeon always tastes best bought at a great restaurant like this haha.
Glutinous rice tangsuyuk — dip-style with soy sauce

You absolutely can't skip tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork) when eating jjajangmyeon 🤍🤍 Tangsuyuk has its own factions too, doesn't it — sauce-poured or dip-style, regular or glutinous rice, sauce camp or soy sauce camp. Which do you prefer, haha? I love the combo of dip-style + glutinous rice + soy sauce, so I made a separate soy sauce dip for it!
Jjamppong mandu — a dish found only here

There's one more special item available only at Jjamppong Jijeon Seooreung — the jjamppong mandu (dumplings)! I've had plenty of regular fried mandu elsewhere, but these have a jjamppong-based filling that's spicy, and it went really well with the jjajang too haha.
