Today's stop was our favorite haunt as a couple! We happened to be at the Dongnae Lotte Department Store and got hungry, so we ended up visiting a sushi restaurant — [Moshi Moshi Sushi, Lotte Department Store Dongnae Branch]! The interior was classy✨, and my husband and I, both big eaters, ate happily🍽️, so I thought I'd write up a review. Let's get right into it!

Where is Moshi Moshi Sushi Dongnae, and what are its hours?

Moshi Moshi Sushi, Lotte Department Store Dongnae Branch is on the 8th floor of the Lotte Department Store Dongnae Branch, at 1393 Jungang-daero, Dongnae-gu, Busan. It's open daily from 10:30 to 20:30 (last order 20:00) and closed on department store holidays.

Inside the 8th-floor dining room: how many seats?

Once you get off the elevator on the 8th floor, Moshi Moshi Sushi is the only sushi restaurant there, so it's easy to find. If you head toward the restrooms on that floor, it's right next to them.

Here's the overall look inside. The clean wood-tone plus black interior🪵🖤 got me excited even before the sushi arrived.🤩

Overview of the Moshi Moshi Sushi Dongnae dining hall

There were plenty of seats and lots of space inside, so it seemed like you could eat comfortably no matter when you go.

Partitioned seating area toward the back

There's also a slightly partitioned-off area in the back, so if you'd like something more private like a room, it might be worth reserving that section in advance. From what I could see, roughly:

  • ✔️ 10–12 tables of 4
  • ✔️ 12 tables of 6
  • ✔️ 1 table of 2
  • ✔️ About 5 bar seats

Moshi Moshi Sushi Dongnae menu and what the couple ordered

Here's the menu board. The set menus looked like good value, so we decided to order one of those!

Table set before ordering

That day we ordered:

  • ✅ Set 3 (for 2 / 16-piece sushi + salmon salad + soba) × 1 / ₩56,900
  • ✅ Shrimp tempura (small) × 1 / ₩11,000
  • ✅ Cola × 1 / ₩2,000

and the total came to ₩69,900!

Pre-meal salad and tofu with sesame dressing

Starter salad, tofu and the thick-cut salmon salad

After we ordered, the pre-meal salad🥗 and tofu came out first. The salad greens were crisp and fresh, and the tofu drizzled with sesame dressing was so good. The starters were so tasty that I got even more excited for the sushi.😍

Set 3 salmon salad and sushi spread

While we waited, the first thing from the set to arrive was ✅ the salmon salad. At first I imagined a salad with a few thin slices of salmon on top of vegetables, but no way‼️‼️

Plate of thickly sliced salmon salad

Big, thick-cut chunks of salmon came out, plated alongside sprouts and onions I love, along with sauces that all paired perfectly with the salmon — I loved it! The cool, thick salmon and fresh vegetables went so well together, making it a great way to start the meal.🥰

What came in the 16-piece sushi plate?

After a short wait, ✅ the 16-piece sushi arrived. It was mostly fish that's easy for anyone to enjoy — egg, white fish, shrimp, salmon, eel — so it seemed like something anyone could eat without worry. Tasting each piece, the fish was fresh and the rice-to-wasabi ratio was just right, so it was really satisfying to eat.

(🌶️Wasabi came out separately in a generous amount with every dish, so you could mix it into the soy sauce or take it separately depending on your taste — I liked that.)

Cold soba included in Set 3: a rich, concentrated broth

Next up is ✅ the cold soba. As part of the set, it comes with two rolled bundles of noodles in a broth topped with shaved ice🧊. (You get two servings of broth, too.) The wasabi on the side was made to just the right consistency for mixing into the soba, which I liked.

Anyway! The first sip of broth surprised both me and my husband — it was so good. Compared to a typical Japanese restaurant, the broth's seasoning was much more concentrated, so it tasted great and never went bland even after sitting a while.

Dipping the noodles bit by bit into the broth made them even chewier and more delicious. I was full, so I left a little, and my husband finished it off for me (haha).

Adding the small shrimp tempura for 11,000 won

Last was ✅ the small shrimp tempura. It came out with 5 neatly fried pieces! The shrimp weren't huge, but you could tell right away they were using good-quality shrimp.

Five pieces of small shrimp tempura

Biting into a shrimp, fresh juice burst out and the chewy, springy shrimp was so good🍤. The shrimp had almost a milky flavor, I'd say? Not fishy at all — just that dense, concentrated taste, and it was so delicious!👍🏻

Table after the meal, with the interior in the background

On our way out, I noticed a sea squirt bibimbap (mixed rice bowl) set that looked really good. I'll definitely have to try that next time!

On our way out, I also saw fresh sashimi cuts already prepared. It seems like they slice just what's needed as they go, which is probably why it all tasted so fresh. We alternated between the sushi, soba, and shrimp tempura, eating happily, and by the end, both my husband and I had cleaned our plates completely.

Is Moshi Moshi Sushi worth it for lunch near Myeongnyun Station?

Since I live in Dongnae, I end up at Dongnae Lotte Department Store more often than I'd expect. Whether it's watching a movie, browsing the mart after work in the evening, or grabbing a meal, I find myself there often. I like that the B1 and 8th floors have such a wide variety of restaurants. I've eaten quite a few different meals at Lotte Department Store Dongnae, and probably because these are all department-store tenants, most of them have been above average, which I found satisfying.👍🏻

This time I visited [Moshi Moshi, Lotte Department Store Dongnae Branch] again, ate well, and wanted to write it up! Aside from us, most of the other customers in the restaurant were older adults. I think it's partly because Lotte Department Store Dongnae itself doesn't get too many young people, but also because the menu and atmosphere here really suit older guests.

Also, the food came out quickly, so it seems like a great, clean lunch option for people working near the department store or running errands in the area. At this rate, I wonder if I'll end up trying every restaurant in the Lotte building (haha).
